Default Books Review of Suggested readings by FPSC for current affairs

AOA, I would like to start a thread, where people will share the reviews about the book of current affairs suggested by the FPFSC for CSS exam. Moreover, I would like to encourage seniors, to give us reviews about the suggested books they had read for the preparation of the current affairs. Finally, I would like my colleagues to make the same kind of threads in the CSSforum. So, the CSS aspirant like myself can benefit.

My review, regarding a book written by Anatol Lieven i.e., Pakistan, A hard country:
The book a bit long, and is old in context because it was written in 2009 and the circumstances have really changed in the country, but the book is good in explaining the politics of the country i.e., pre 2009. In the first phase of the book, it tells the readers about how the country came into being, how it is run and what are the threats to its existence. As the writer moves from one chapter to another, he talks about the military, the justics system, the regimes that wanted to bring change and the provinces, what are their composition and their particular problems and in the end talks, the writer talks about the taleban. But, the main theme of the book is, the internal politics of Pakistan and how the social, economic, cultural and religious factors effect the politics of Pakistan. The writer had extensively written about the patronage and kinship role in the politics of Pakistan and the impediments for Pakistan to achieve true democracy in the country.
