“To” and “for” are very common words and have many meanings in English. It would take me too long to explain all the uses of “to” and “for” to you.
I can think of one area, though, where a learner can be confused about which of these words to use as a preposition, for example in these sentences: a) I gave a book to my mother. b) I bought a book for my mother. In (a), “to” is used to indicate someone who receives something. In (b) “for” indicates who is intended to have something |
