Dear Fellows, AOA
In precis and composition paper each and every section is equally important as for as preparation is concerned.
Many a students put more stress on a particular section which is the main problem of failure in this paper.
First of all prepare yourself for every thing given in the paper with equal consentration and do not take any lightly nor feel over confident about any section.
Secondly try to grab every kind of tips and tricks regarding solving different things in the paper, for example one should know very well how to solve a precis, composition, narration, pairs of words and common errors etc.
Here are some tips and tricks to solve this important paper.
1. Read the question paper and start solving those question first that will take least time.
2. Before writing a precis and paragraph solve comprehension paragraph because that will set your rhythem which is very important for both precis and paragraph.
3. While writing a paragraph choose your topic carefully and before starting to write your paragraph make its complete sketch in your mind so that you can save your time.
4. Solve precis in last but read it atleast for once in the begining of paper and repeat it twice atleast then start writing your rough notes.
Make rough notes carefully and ensure that you have not missed any important point and then make your final draft in a single paragraph.
I hope this will help you alot.
Thanks, Raja Bahar (MA English )

5. As we all know that English Language has such a vast and lengthy vocabulary therefore it is very difficult even for a native speaker to get control over the larger part of its vocabulary.
So before solving the synonyms, antonyms or even blanks keep in mind some very common and basic rules, such as;
(i) If a word is an adverb for example its antonym or synonym must be be the adverb.
(ii) While filling a blank make sure that you have chosen a best possible answer, I mean there is huge difference between confident and confidence, so be careful.

6. Writing a paragraph of about (200-300) is no doubt requires great skills and mastery. Hence try to write it in a straight forward manner and choose your best sentences as up-front. Don't try to explain any thing too much nor make it boring rather add as much smooth and sharp mindedness as you can.
Remember writing a paragraph means you are expressing your self as an observer, transporter and analyzer.

7. In narration, keep in mind the examiner will always give you tricky type of sentences so make sure that you know very well adverbs of time and place, personal pronouns and tense changing either in direct or indirect speech.

8. To solve out common errors, one should have sufficient grip over the parts of speech. How ever keep in mind that in common error sentence there is not always the mistake regarding parts of speech rather some times it can be of a punctuation mistake. Hence I suggest that one should have the basic knowledge about punctuations.
For example "i" when it is used as a personal pronoun, always written in capital form "I". So as word "english" and "earth" are written in capital form "English" and "Earth". How ever when the word "english" is used as an adjective such as english language, english book etc., then it is used in small form.

I hope that this little effort will prove very fruitful to all.
Thanks
