Question Problem with the pronoun 'I'

The rule is that Subjects and verbs must AGREE with one another in number (singular or plural). Thus, if a subject is singular, its verb must also be singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be plural. Coming straight away to my point, I am giving some examples:

1. I have finished working.
2. You were there.
3. I was busy.
4. He works hard.
5. I live abroad.
6. They are all pilots.

Now see, the subjects that are plural, do have plural verbs; and same is with singular ones. But its only the 'I' that stands alone - it sometimes agrees, while sometimes doesnot.

My question is if 'I' is singular, then why 'I have/live......' and if it's plural, then why 'I was....'???

Besides, 's' or 'es' is added to the verb if and only if the subject of the verb is third person singular, he, she, it. The same goes with 'has'.
