Problem with the pronoun 'I'
The rule is that Subjects and verbs must AGREE with one another in number (singular or plural). Thus, if a subject is singular, its verb must also be singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be plural. Coming straight away to my point, I am giving some examples:
1. I have finished working. 2. You were there. 3. I was busy. 4. He works hard. 5. I live abroad. 6. They are all pilots. Now see, the subjects that are plural, do have plural verbs; and same is with singular ones. But its only the 'I' that stands alone - it sometimes agrees, while sometimes doesnot. My question is if 'I' is singular, then why 'I have/live......' and if it's plural, then why 'I was....'??? |

Besides, 's' or 'es' is added to the verb if and only if the subject of the verb is third person singular, he, she, it. The same goes with 'has'.
