Just a look plzz...!!!
(3) The officer said, “Hand it all! Can you not do it more neatly”.
The officer shouted angrily and asked whether they could not do it more neatly. 5. The master said, "How long will you take in warming my food?" The master asked how long would he take in warming his food. 3. They say. "Is this the right time to arrive9 Aren't you forgetting something"? The say whether this is the right time to arrive and if we are not forgetting something. I am confused why in the first two narrations the pronoun 'you' doesn't change into the first person just as it does in the third one. plz, help me out...!!!! I cited all of the above narrations from this very link: http://www.cssforum.com.pk/css-compu...ntences-3.html |

According to Rules, the second person should be changed according to the object of Reporting Speech. The object is absent in all three cases. Now, in first two sentences, it has been supposted that the object is 'third person'. Therfore, 'You' has been changed accordingly to the third person. In last sentence, object is consdered to be the firs person, therefore it has been changed to 'We'. However, as per my understanding, you may consider the object to be the third person and then change narration as done in first two sentences.
i.e. The say whether this is the right time to arrive and if they are not forgetting something.
