Thanks for such courtesy! Well I want to know what are the characteristics of an ideal outline for an essay in your view?

Outline:
Outline is basically a snapshot of the whole essay. It shows the examiner that what are you going to present later in the essay; how are you going connect your ideas; convince examiner about certain topic; transitions of different ideas; order of ideas and validity of those to the topic.

Well there is no set pattern for an Ideal outline. However with practice one can write good outline and this is what all matters.
Following elements can make an outline distinctive:
1. Comprehensiveness.
2. Chronological order.
3. Linguistic appeal.
4. Relevance.
5. Logical appeal.

Thus, understanding topic is the most important part of developing a good outline.

Ok thanks! I have seen some outlines with bullet points only. On the other hand, some people prefer to write whole sentences in it. Also, some authors do write quotes etc. in outlines. What should be the preferred strategy then?
Also share your views regarding thesis statement and how to start an essay?

It totally depends on your topic you are going to attempt and the form of discourse you are going to use. Depending on that you can either opt short phrases or long sentences. Rest is not important make bullets, make points, use numerics. Do whatever resonates with you.

Ok.
In my humble opinion Essay is not only about jotting down facts, stats and figures in a complete disarray of 1800-2000 words. It's more than that.
