Extremism and Fanaticism in Pakistan

Thesis Statement:
Extremism and fanaticism are the major concerns for the modern world, specifically; in Pakistan, that encompasses multicultural societies and different ethnic groups, where an extremist ideology could oxide hatred among people and dysfunction the anatomy of the country at full tilt.


Introduction:

Background:
• Soviet-Afghan war and War on Terror after 9/11 incident
• An over view to the incidents of extremism and fanaticism in Pakistan

Causes:
• Non democratic practices
• Marginalization of society
• Illiteracy Rate
• Sectarian Issues
• Exiguous role of Ullemas
• Infirm judiciary
• Involvement of external factors

Impacts:
• Misconception would rise against Islam
• Rise of militancy
• Interfaith conflicts
• Non-growth of democratic values
• Ruination of economy
• Violation of human rights
• Overall image of the country will tarnish

Suggestions:
• Injecting true Islamic teachings
• Constructive role of Ullemas and scholars
• Non-imposing of one’s religion
• Zero tolerance of non state actors
• Robust policy making by the state
• Promoting quality education and investing in science and technology sector
• Positive role of media
