My question is, whether highlighting important points and dates in the essay paper is allowed or not?

I have heard different points of view regarding this.

Please reply with a proof (e.g. in case it isn't allowed, please share the written rule in which it is prohibited, etc.)

It is good to highlight the facts and figures,,, not the whole sentences.....
No headings are allowed... Maintain the sequence of essay as such, even if you want to write any quotation, you can write......
............ Xxxxxxxxx...... XYZ says:"....."
And relate the very quotation or fact and figures in few sentences to the main topic or at least to the topic sentence of the paragraph...

First write topic sentence,, then your argument(s), and prove your argument with suitable material (any facts or figures or some other related data) and finally conclude your paragraph...
