Introduction Background of Bengal Separation from Calcutta Remerging with Calcutta Independence and After Cultural Differences November Cyclone and flood December Elections After Elections India fueled fire Plane Hijacked Zulifqar Bhutto’s role Present scenario Conclusion Debacle of East Pakistan! Gone are those days when east and West Pakistan was called one country. Havoc were circumstances, wishes of freedom were very high, and ill intensions were raised; critical compulsions isolated two wings – East and West Pakistan. No, doubt! It was great tragedy and blow for Pakistan and still its very influence is observed in winds of country which came into being almost 40 years ago. The area which now has been Bangladesh was badly deprived of deserving rights. There, nature was kind enough and too cruel; it was kind enough on account of Land was well fertilized and well-watered, was too cruel because there, cyclones and floods were fatal and frightful. Tensions, tragedies, torments and tortures were too terrifying. Due rights were ever snatched or never given. Simply, people of that area were left remote, deprived and avoided and area was left undeveloped and neglected. A candle of hope was kindled in period of Lord Curzon. He, Lord Curzon, viceroy of sub-continent put profound perception over Bengal; Decided in 1905, having observed deprivation of Bengalis and established another province with name ‘Eastern Bengal’ and with capital ‘Dacca’ and separated out from Calcutta. In a few years quick services were taken place in East Bengal; Buildings were built beautifully, and, Colleges, hospitals and universities were opened. Land was well cropped and administration had made their offices. Indeed, that time Bengal was in own entity. The candle which had been kindled was extinguished in just 5 years in 1911. Educated Hindus of Calcutta could not tolerate this act of kindness towards Eastern Bengal so called Muslims. Hindus said that it was a conspiracy against Hindu people and Muslims were being supported; they brought violent strikes and compelled Lord Curzon to take his decision back. And, it happened arrangement was revoked and East Bengal was remerged with Calcutta. This action was heart-breaking and soulful for souls of Bengalis. It was like as to give toy to a child and to snatch it in a while. They were again very disappointed as they were. Bengal kept on tolerating torments till Quad-e-Azam made Pakistan. Bengal became province of Pakistan and they never indentified themselves as Pakistanis. They called themselves ‘Bengalis’. Even after independence East Bengal at some state was deprived and chained. Sea which is the most silent is the deepest. No doubt, earth which tolerates and is silent can be burst up with violent volcano. Culture of East people was very different than of West Pakistan. In East Pakistan 98% Bengali was spoken and 2% Urdu. They were little black in colour and lower in height. They had their own language, customs and culture. And, indeed, those people who are in majority and have own civilization and culture they never want to be shackled and chained. In November 1970 a critical cyclone and fatal flood took place in East Pakistan. Almost 500000 people were killed and thousands were affected. Nature had brought disaster and human efforts were futile in front of it. Thousands of refugees ran towards Indian frontier and majority of them were Hindus. India put hand of help and an ill-intension was behind thick curtains. Government was blackened and weakened. In December 1970 election were held freely and fairly by Yahiya khan. Shaikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman won in East Pakistan and Zulifqar Bhutto won in West Pakistan. The leader, Shaikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman, of Awami League of East Pakistan won 167 seats out of 313 in National Assembly and actually; power was to be given in his hands. Massive victory of Shaikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman made him Hero in Bengal. But, he was very decisive at his ‘Six points’. Shaikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman having seen his public and fans grew adamant and messaged to President Yahiya Khan if the six point will not be accepted entirely then “Rivers of Blood shall flow.” He did not come into terms with President Yahiya Khan and Zulifqar Bhutto and their differences were bone of contention. After Election Government faced a lot troubles; Critical cyclone calamity and circumstances had captured all prosperity and placidness. And, disastrous down falls were made by Awami League rebellions, people were shot at spots, buildings were broken down and violence was lurching. All was Disorder. Opponents of Awami league were being killed and Refugees were running towards India. India fueled the fire; gave a lot of money to rebellions, Rifles and Guns were being supplied to Bengalis and refugees were given special training. India press defamed name of Pakistan in western countries and Government was being pressurized by western world that make good terms with Bengal or let it be separated. Hostilities from Indian side were seen and solution was indeed War but having seen all, all was tolerated. Bengali Writer Mr. Nirad C. Chaudery had said in his writings. “India would be so utterly mad as to do anything of the kind.” On 30 January 1971 An Indian Fokker friendship craft was hijacked and landed at Lahore and it was investigated that two passengers had hijacked the plane who were calling themselves ‘Kashmir Freedom Fighters.” Pakistan was pressurized by countries to arrest the hijackers and it was Havoc situation for Government. Anyhow Government made agree the hijackers and they both; released passengers and crew. Passengers were taken in hotel of Lahore with fine treatment. As Pakistan had never accepted Kashmir as part of India so it hit spot of Indian hearts and they alleged Pakistan to be answerable. In reaction India blocked communication of 1200 miles territory between East Pakistan and West Pakistan. Latter it was known, it was Indian Conspiracy. Shaikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman did not miss the chance he boasted up the public saying government doesn’t want any communication with us. Pakistan was helpless in this regard neither he could say to India nor to East Pakistan. Rebellions had controlled whole Bengal and they announced on Radios that we had been given freedom and gave name to country ‘BANGLADESH’. Zulifqar Ali Bhutto did not want to give Pakistan into hands of Bengali. Altogether, there were spices of self-interest and diplomacy in self made dish of Zulifqar Bhutto. He gave hand to Yahiya Khan and they both brought army operation in East Bengal against rebellions. Shaikh Mujeeb Ur Rehman was arrested but dominancy of army could not stop Bengalis and Army was beaten badly and on 16th December 1971 Army surrendered. Fate gave freedom to Bengalis and new country ‘Bangladesh’ took place in world’s map. Now, East Pakistan has been Bangladesh. They have their own identification and government. Good are relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. It is never forgotten by Pakistanis that Bangladesh was our part. 16th December 1971 is day of happiness for Bangladesh and it is sweet sorrowful for Pakistan. Undoubtedly, it is fact; blunders were committed by Pakistani government. Slogans of freedom were reasonably started. He who is deprived since birth a day will come and he becomes Rebellion. Same was happened with East Pakistan and all other is history. Mistakes and difficulties are great teacher Pakistan should learn from these misfortunes and try to do its best and should never commit such mistakes as were committed. i think the length is fine as in the exam we only have 30mins to attempt a question. secondly we cannot enlarge an answer with frivilous things or details it would spoil the answer. the answer given above is quiet good and sufficent
