i always wonder

If the "black box" survives every plane crash, why not make the entire plane out of that stuff?

becoz Aeroplanes are made of such type of materials which are light in weight, flexible and have strong resistance to all weathering forces....but if we make an aircraft with the material used in black box...it would be too heavy to fly and too expensive to buy.

It's not just the material that the black boxes are made of that makes they so likely to survive a crash, it's also the way they are made. If you tried to make a whole aircraft of those kinds of materials and that kind of construction, it wouldn't be able to fly.

all the black boxes have to protect are relatively small recording devices that are designed to be fairly impervious to damage. Human beings are much more easily damaged.
Black boxes sometimes are destroyed. That is why they usually have at least two black boxes, one in the front and one in the rear of the aircraft, so that one of them will escape the worst of the crash or fire.
The aircraft would never get off the ground, because they would be too heavy. Same reason police don't wear armour suits: a fully bulletproof suit would weigh tons.

It is impossible.flight data recorder or cockpit voice recorders are made of stanless steel or Titanium.I mean their outside cases are of 10 by 10 inches of stanless steel where as an airplane which is mostly made of aluminium and plastic to some extant.
but to use steel for the whole body of plane is impossible becaz plane will then become too heavy to fly up in the sky and better to drive on roads rather than fly in the air where as Black box are tiny shaped so they survive fire and rust and heavy collides which ensures their safety.

plane can only become crash proof if during manufacture they use all efforts to control faults and during flight pilots should remain in their senses.

if they do so even then plane will crash into pieces .

experiment

take a fairly small piece of mirror and throw it down it will never break
now throw a full size mirror and observe that material in bulk has different properties .

another experiment
suppose you are able to find a non breakable material and you make an aero out of that even then people inside it will die on a collision as a result of conservation of momentum and all energy of collision will be absorbed by the bones of our bodies or other elastic objects .
the chance of survival in a crash will be more lesser for a "Secure RIGID plane "

the more compressible a plane body is the more chances that people inside it will survive because it will be the plane that destroys while absorbing force of collision and not the people inside it ( they will receive the remaining fraction ).

the margalla crash was a head-on collision and there is zero percent survival chance in such collisions .because time of collision is lesser but if we increase the time of collision the impulse will be lesser and people may survive

but in this world many people survive in airplane crashes . if you have time do watch this
