Lets do it in just 6 days

Dear members,
Recently i am working on EDS.And have divided the whole subject in 6 phases. In almost 6 days we can cover whole syllabus

DAy -- 1 plan
1.Muslim scientists 2.Abbreviations 3.Differentiate e.g Ice and Snow, Heavy Water and hard water
I prepared short notes of Muslim Scientist in given manner
Like

Al Baruni
Life span( 973---1048)
Field of Specialization: Philosophy, mathematics, geography, astronomy, physics & Meta physics
Books:
1)Tahqiq Al-Hind (History geography,philosophy & social conditions of India)
2)Qanoon Al- masudi (astronomical encyclopedia)

Thats all

R u ready to cover this in just 6 days?
I have completed my day-1 plan
For differentiation
I just followed the past ten years paper to search and most of such differentations are repeated more than once.prepare these from internet by highlighting thier definition in 2 or 3 lines.

andleeb Akhter Saturday, June 25, 2011 10:29 PM

Dear wamik,
I don't think so that hourly study can benefit you more.Just concentrate on your plan and stick to it. I have started my jouney from 7 am AUR time count nai kia ....still working on it infact revising it.han bht sari breaks b li hein but my plan was to complete it.
Jab concentration loose hony lagy "Junoon" group ka song sunein
hai jazba junoon tu himat na har.......:blink:blink

Wamik Saturday, June 25, 2011 10:39 PM

Have you easily revised everything, even alongwith posting and replying on cssforum.
If yes, than you are brilliant student,
or, it is not your first attempt for css, right?

andleeb Akhter Saturday, June 25, 2011 10:44 PM

@wamik
Yup i appeared in css 2011...but having science back ground and having teaching experience of science subjects i took the subject for granted.... kuch videos dekh k short notes bna k kam chalaya tha.
Now i have the target to score 80+ in this subject...and i am giving time to this subject.
No i am not birriliant......still striving to complete my revision.:waiting

the above plan u provided is very helpful. well m preparing from Kashmiri's book + Imtiaz shahid Mcq's. is it enough to secure 70+ in this subject. further suggestions from ur side will be appreciated...

andleeb Akhter Sunday, June 26, 2011 09:34 PM

@Shehroozkhan
well to secure 70+ marks in EDS is possible if one works with little more concentration.I ampreparing it from Imtiaz shahid's book.Kashmiri's book too has some good fame among css aspirants but i don't the exact material and format of that book.
I am using internet as tool to cope with this subject. Scientific videos are quite helpful for those specially who don't have science back ground. It's an easy option to boost your score as past paper analysis shows most of the questions are repeated twice ,thrice and even more than that. So one can earn maximum with little effort.

Day---2 Plan
1)Units (just bird's eye view)
2)Devices and instruments(objective) ( one line description... i used to highlight a line from book which best descibes the use of that device.....For example ECG to measure and interpret the eletrical activity of the heart and look at this definition of sextant which i highlighted on my book that it is a device to measure angular distance between two objects
Don't go into the extra details just search for proper definition and if possible see the image of that device on net other wise one line description is more than enough.
3) Scientific Instruments and Electrical appliances(for short notes)
I have prepared a list of those which were in past papers and likely to come in next too, by taking help from one of the post of mam LAST ISLAND and by detail examination of past papers. This list is as given below.
1)Oven 2) Voltage stablizer 3) Refrigerator 4) Telephone 5) Television 6) Camera 7) Microscope 8)computer 9) internet 10)satellite (communication) 11)Radio 12) Laser 13)Nuclear reactor 14) vacuum cleaner 15) Teleprinter 16) Solar cell 17) Thermostat 18) PV cell 19) pressure cooker 20) RADAR

Microwave Oven:
Definition:kitchen appliance that heats food by dielctric heating.
Working:works by using microwave radiation( usually at 2.45 Ghz frequency),to heat polarized molecules within the food. This radiation is between common radio and infrared.
Uses:
1) for efficient cooking
2)to deforest items
3) softening butter
4) melting choclate
Hazards
browning and flavour enhancing reactions can't occur due to temperature range.
close containers and eggs can explode
Other facts:
first introduced in 1967 by Amana corporations

In this way i prepared notes of all thse instruments and appliances

6 days for eds!
If you continue at this speed you would have completed the whole course by the end of August.
What do you plan on doing for the remaining months until the exams (which would be conducted in late February or early March according to my information).
I am hoping to give my first attempt in 2012, so what is really bothering me is the frenzy I sense in people who are going for the 2012 attempt as well, do we really need to start working this hard this early?

of course the problem is that i hav an accounting background. that's why EDS seems much difficult to me.kindly would u enlist the best websites for EDS,where from i can get the precise n best data.

Yup dear......... i have planed to complete my sylllabus till the end of August. As u know future is un predictable..... so to avoid any disaster i am doing it now.
well there are other limitations too.....being an IT teacher in a Govt institute i have three good reasons to work hard "JUNE JULY AUSUGUST"..and to handle css preparation with job would be quite challenging... so after doing with intitial phase of preparation i have a plan to revise twice or thrice my course.
baki jo Allah ko manzoor huwa qk mujy baad mein ye regret nai kerna k kash june july mein b parh lia hota.

don't worry about EDS yu can easily cope with this subject.Just try to concentrate on past papers. For objective portion, make routine to read something from book and highlight the important topics and definitions and statistics from this topic..As for as your querry regarding EDS websites is concerend...explore this forum, some users have posted some useful links over there...mery zehn mein filhal google ki elawa kuch nai. I am using google search engine to find any description which seems difficult to me.Moreover scientific videos are available on You Tube.
sister Andleeb Are you studying in a group or alone?
EDS by imtiaz shahid (i am preparing from it and found it quite useful for reference)
And i will try to paste the whole plan as soon as possible. But to be very frank merely plans can do nothing.... you know after practicing it i would be in a better position to explain and defend.:blink

Dear i am pasting my day to day plan here on this thread. If you are asking about my scheduled time then i am sorry i am not following this pattern from 9am to 10 am....or from 5 pm to 7 pm.While starting with the plans described above i used to make a list of all topics which are included in my plan. And doing with this strategy .........aaj mujy ye kaam complete ker k sona hai chahy kuch b ho jaye.phir chahy sham ho raat ya subah k 2 bj jayein main complete ker k soti hoon...cover kerny k sath sath wo checklist check hoti jati hai aur bas....And u know this strategy is doing wonders for me. just try it

Geothermal energy,Non conventional source of energy,Magnetic resonance energy ,Tide energy,Dam and barrage
(:onesecTip: just 2 or 3 line description is enough as you would not be asked to write thesis on EDS topics.:haha so have fun with it. Some times examiner mention even no.:bow of lines.Use this strategy for all short notes)

i am preparing from Rab Nawaz Samo0 and additionally Ikarm Kashmiri...i fouud more than 30 scientists in Rab Nawaz Samo0 which are s0 easier to be said to learn than done practically…
Could you please share your list of Muslim Scientist???

andleeb Akhter Wednesday, June 29, 2011 01:20 PM

@Afshan

Here it goes:

1)Ibne Rushd2)Al Farabi 3)Ibn e Nafis 4)Al Kinidi 5)Ibn Hayyan 6)Ibn al Baitar
7)Abu Ali Sina 8)Biruni 9) bn Al-Haitham 10)Muhammad bin Musa Al-Khawarizmi 11) Umer Al Khayam 12) Zakariya Al Razi 13) Al-Zahrawi 14) Ghazali 15) Nasir ud din tusi 16) Dr AQ khan 17) Dr. Abdus Salam

:onesecRED COLOR IS USED TO HIGHLIGHT MOST REPEATED TOPIC IN PREVIOUS PAPERS

I know it's not easy to prepare this very certain portion of EDS .......but i enjoyed it by preparing notes in the above mentioned manner.Dear this can't be done with one or two readings ...prepare your own short notes by skipping extra details from book as you are going to compete for only 5 marks for each scientist. I assure you with 5 or 6 revisions you would be able to learn all these facts on your finger tips.:vic

DAY ---- 4 PLAN

1)PHSYICS:
For Obejective portion: Thorough reading of whole chapter
For Subjective portion & for short Notes:
1)Short circuit 2) Shockwaves 3) Nuclear Fission 4) Nuclear fusion 5) Radioactivity 6) Law of gravitaion 7) conductors( simple,super, semi) 8) insulaotrs 9) Resistor 10) Transistor 11)Capacitor 12) Electricity(Electric current,voltage,resistance) 13)Escape Velocity 14) Optic fibers 15) Ultrasonic waves 16) Radio waves 17) Super fluid 18) enrichment of uranium 19)
(These topics are short listed from previous papers' data...i personally think they are more than enough.)
For short notes i followed the same strategy of 5 line description by making headings in such a manner:
1)Definition 2) Applications 3) limitations 4)Other facts

2) Chemistry
For objective portion: Thorough reading of whole chapter
For subjectve portion and short notes:

For those who are not with science background ......its my humble advice to them that please consult matriculation books of Chemistry Physics and Biology. They are quite easy to understand and are enriched with basic ideas.Just give a reading or two for the sake of objective portion.
Moreover,if you find any difficulty in any topic paste yur query here ...i will try my best to help you out.
During my preparation, i found these websites quite useful:
1) HowStuffWorks "Learn how Everything Works!"
2) Encyclopedia - Britannica Online Encyclopedia
But remember don't overload yourself with material.Just strive to write 5 to 8 lines.(8 b maximum hein).Make your notes in bullets form so that you can enjoy your work.

Though i am mentioning it under one day plan but it can take more than a day because topics are lengthy and.... To me Biology was never an interesting subject but its very imortant as well as hot favourite portion of css examiners.Past paper analysis shows that css examiners are in habit to make 30-40% portion of mcq's from biology. So skipping this portion might be lethal, especially for those who are destined to score above 70 %.
In this regard, i wana add some tricks

Plan goes here
BIOLOGY
1)Objective portion: if you have a luxury of time please make a full reading or two of matriculation book( i know it can't be done in a day or two ....just make habit to give atleast 30 minutes daily to read a chapter or two ....like in my routine DAWN Reading,15 words vocabulary and an hour of writing practice and here i have recently extended my list by adding biology in it ad quite comfortable with it)
2) videos I liked the idea of preparing science from videos( one of the worthy members of this forum(xeric) had already posted many useful inks in a relevent thread. Click this. again u can add one or two videos in your daily routine.:pp
enjoy and add some videos in the above said link for the sake of others help(wesay mainy khud abhi sirf faeda he uthaya hai add kuj nai kia :)) but i have the intentions to add some videos in this thread.
3)Subjective portion:
make short notes (not more than 3 or 4 lines) of these topics
1)pollnation 2) photosynthesis 3) Ecosystem(producers and consumers of eco system ) 4) structure of animal and plant cell(similarities and differences ) 5) celluluse 6) viruses & bacteria 7) osmosis 8) transpiration 9) important parts of flower 10) fertilization 11) diffusion 12) mitosis & meosis 13) DNA & RNA 14) meta boism catabolism & anabolism 15) Amphbions

Human biology
1) objective portion: prepare all the systems like excetary sytem, respiratory system, blood circulatory sytem from videos if possible otherwise consult relevant chapters and give them through reading.

For objective portion: explore videos of solar system and if possible underline important details from book as well.During my preparation i analyzed one thing, videos can do wonders ....one can easily remember even minor details while listening and watching and more comprehensibly than reading. So consult videos as many as possible.

1)galaxy 2) Big bang theory 3) solar system 4) palnets 5)Solar System 6)Planets 7)Lunar Eclipse 8) Solar Eclipse 9)Hovering Satellite 10)Steroid 11)Mercury 12)Pluto 13)Communication satellite 14)Supernova 15)Synchronous satellite 16)Big Dipper 17)Nebula

14)Modem 1 5) ALU 16)Computer Viruses 17)Millennium Bug
I must say one or two line description would make you able to fetch good marks.

I remember that i started this plan with the intentions to complete it in 6 days but things were not as easier as i was predicting.:roll
I hope so these study plans can keep you on track while preparing this subject for first time and for revision also....one can revise the whole course in just a week or so.

sabbar ali Sunday, January 01, 2012 05:42 PM

how abt preparing it in 3 days ?? s the syllabus suggests.. its divided into three phases

1. Muslim Scientists, nature of sciecne and its impact on society

2. Physical sciecnes

3. Biological sciecnes..

as per my understanding and clearing of 2010 css written plus interview phases the books of SSC and HSSC levels are more than enuf to tackle with this paper effectively and efficiently...

Every one can prepare notes according to his\her aptitude.i have made them in this way...if it seems flexible to you,you can also go with this approach.
