Default Aloofness from politics

I know my question is childish but I am not getting the reason why did Sir Syed advise muslims to stay aloof from politics? Please seniors explain this. I have to understand this to do critical analysis of Sir Syed campaign based on Loyality, devotion and aloofness, a question asked in last year's PA paper.

Your question is not childish but my childish reply per pinch of my knowledge is that, Sir Syed focused on education.
Politics of that time was a work of sagacious leaders and he wanted to grow a sagacious, veracious and conscientious leadership.
That is why, He said to the Muslims to keep themselves away from politics.
Education is a root for the prosperity in all spheres of life.

His advice of staying away from politics can be understood in the context of his other advice: Loyalty to the British Rulers. Politics meant dissent and dissent meant loyalty is somehow missing.

Isha is right..

Hindus were shrewd and educated at that time and gaining political strength, formed Congress, if Muslims would have joined, they would not be given the positions in the hierarchy because of their low exposure and aptitude of understanding the matters. Therefore Sir Syed Ahmed Khan wanted Muslims to get the educational first as primary tool for success and make good ties with current Governing Rulers i.e. Brits. Once you are enough equiped, you fight well and Muslims proved it after becoming too strong and then gained political positions in Congress and formed AIML.

Reason # 1 : The British held Muslims of India, responsible for the mutiny of 1857. All political ambitions of the Muslims were snuffed. They were deliberately held back in all domains and were forced to live a life of misery. The Muslims had already adopted the path of confrontation with "the defeat of 1857", all dreams of Muslims, return to power were shattered. Muslims were facing two enemies. one were the Britishers and the other were Hindus. If the Muslims, entered political field without education they would have been a tool in the hands of the "more educated" Hindus. This would have further deteriorated Muslim - British relationship. Hindus would have used "simple" and "illiterate' Muslims to further their interest. Hence, Sir Syed advised muslims to align themselves with British, facilitate the rulers and achieve strength. Once they had strength, they could be in a position to demand their due rights.
