As for me, twice I have failed i.e 2012 and now 2014. Regardless of the (in)adequate efforts, the result does(should) shake you up at this stage of your life. I am definitely at "that" dreadful crossroad, and this Stand or Fall attempt for 2015 necessitates, that my approach to "tasks" needs a major overhaul.

I have been absent from active participation in the forum. So I will make a few quick conclusive observations regarding MY 2 attempts. Upto you what you take from this

Essay
Result of both attempts remained miserable. hence i never mentioned my DMC's.
* In 2012, I wrote a beautiful outline and Intro, but in 2.5 hours, and with just 7 pages of elaboration. hence, my essay was incomplete. Result? I scored 18 marks. Why? Till date, I have never written a SINGLE ESSSAY or OUTLINE for practice. Did the same in 2014, and scored 10, this time with an Incomplete outline.

Conclusion: dearest Bhaiyo, after being careless and stubborn, I can conclude, you cannot EVER pass the Essay, UNLESS, you have practiced it and got it checked from a Qualified teacher, OUTSIDE these run of the mill academies.

English P&C
In 2012, I scored 41 or 40 marks. Here is the shocker: I did not attempt the Paragraph Expansion. Totally skipped it.
I was confident of my Precis etc and for some reason I hoped to pass. In 2014, I was BEYOND confident of my paper. It was complete. I scored 31.

Conclusion: I have no idea why I passed 2012 paper and Why I failed 2014. By CSS standards, it shouldve been the other way around.

Current Affairs/Pak Affairs
This subject continues to be mysterious for me. Ive been reading newspaper since I was a little kid. Ive failed it both times. There is a serious disconnect between what I know, What the Examiner is Asking and what Im actually scribbling onto my paper.

Conclusion Inconclusive

. I paid a lot of attention to CA & PA back in 2012, and the result was ugly. I paid little attention this time around and I scored better, but still failed.

Everyday Science
Was prepared by MY standards. Disappointing result both times.

Islamiat
No idea regarding the standard. In 2012, I passed this with 40 marks. I attempted ALMOST 4 Questions only, with no hadees or ayat whatsoever The book i used was Dogars solved Past Paper. I asked my father to translate, those mostly repetitive headings into English aur bas. I shouldve failed by CSS standards but I didnt. But in 2014 I failed, with a better attempt

My conclusion on Compulsory Papers

Work really hard on ESSAY, practice practice. Must take help from a teacher. Same for english P&C.

As for CA, PA, Islamiat, I think inn papers me bas jo Allah ki merzi ho, wohi hota ha. You cant excuse yourself for not preparing for it, but If your on a short leash of time like me, dont get obsessed with it. Rather trust your knowledge and reasoning. maybe attempt a past paper or two and get it checked once.

My friend, with very average writing skills and below average grammar, attempted 2014 CE. Just to get the taste of it. He hated it. He attempted all papers with overnight prep. Never attempted an essay before, his outline literally made me lol. While I lost sleep during exams, he was having fun, attending law classes etc. So he scored 20 in Essay, failed English P&C, and scored a whooping 133 in General Knowledge with 51 marks in PA. I never asked him HOW he did it, because we both knew, he had no clue why or how.

AS for Everday Science, be prepared as much as you can. Its worth it.

Optional Papers

The only optional paper Il mention is International Law, not because Ive scored in it, but because I prepared for it good enough. Read Tandon and Agarwall both. Even though Im a final year Law student, Im still stuck somewhere where I cant break this barely passing marks barrier. Something wrong with the way I attempt, maybe. hopefully il find out this time.

Advice to Self and Maybe YOU

The only way to prepare and hope to score good in optionals, prepare par excellence. Leave no stone unturned for them. For Essay, P & C, EDS...Practice, Practice, Practice. If you are slow, Write, Write, Write. I didnt listen, and Look what Happened. As for distractions which appear small, minuscule, trivial...these tiny distractions is what will make the difference in the final result.

I laud you that you have mentioned your experience in a beautiful way. As i'm voyaging in the same ship, i'm resolute to appear for the very first time in CE-15 with a determination and confidence. So far, i'm just done with the compulsories, will start optionals by NOV. I keep practising essay and until now, i have almost written on 8 to 10 topics. Your post ascended my hope, despite your awful marks. You may read my latest essay and comment. It will be regarded as appreciation
