tie breakers--the reason for this error?

I dont know if many of you know about the tie breakers in case two or more candidates have the same amount of marks. i think the error was possibly because of the wrong application of those criteria. since most of our candidates are unaware of that criteria, here is how it works. if two candidates have the same score after written and viva, then :

the person who is older ( meaning with the one with earlier date of birth) will be given the higher order of merit.

if both have the same date of birth, then the person with the better Viva score goes to the higher merit list.

if those are also equal, than the person with the highest score in compulsory subjects gets the higher position.

Brother I think you have explained very well but you have confused age with vio voce.
If total marks of two candidates are same:
1) One who obtains higher marks in vio voce is placed first
2) Or if vio voce marks of both the candidates are same then marks in compulsory play decissive role
3) Even if marks of vio voce and compulsory are same then age is the deciding factor.

My point of view seems more valid because we have one example in CE-2008 result. I remember there was a tie between two forum members and one who got higher marks in vio voce was placed first. We can search that result from our forum if we want more clarification.

Here are the rules of FPSC in this matter:
24. (ii) When total marks of more than one candidate are equal, the one who gets more marks in viva voce is treated as higher in merit. If marks in viva voce are also equal, the one who gets more marks in compulsory subjects is treated as higher in merit. If marks in compulsory subjects are also equal the one who is older in age is treated as higher in merit.
