dear you are right.dmg is back on the top because it,s the group in which people enjoys various postings in districts, secretariat, other divisions etc a lot of horizontal and vertical mobility. and in 2 provinces deputy commisioner is back at helm in districts. that,s why people are preferring this group at the top.

How a omg officer could survive in costly city like islamabad without house facility?
Entire salary may not be sufficent to pay the rent of house.

dear you r right but what can be done. it,s really very difficult to survive in OMG with meagre salary in city like islamabad and that,ss why i,m personally confused whether to join it or quit.at present i,m on deferment for 1year. but condition of rest of groups is also not better if one considers salary etc. only in few occupational groups accomodation is provided otherwise u have to arrange your own at least in 17.

i agree wth u but omg is special case. Islamabad only. In other cities u can manage but wth dificulty but in islamabad it is impossible.

dmg is no doubt the most prestigeous group as history tell us, but from last 6 to 7 years psp is on top. And it will be this time too. Case of muhammad bin ashraf is example. DMG was a tradition and it is changing now

You are mistaken.In 2009,DMG and PSP seats in Punjab finished side by side.In 2010,DMG has come up as clear leader in preference list.Let me tell you the statistics of my batch.Punjab has 18+2=20 DMG open merit seats and PSP has 7+1=8 open merit seats.20 DMG seats finished at merit number 46(Pakistan).While only 8 PSP seats finished at merit number 51.Similarly in KP,2 seats of DMG are taken by merit number 7 and 18,while PSP has been taken by Abdullah,19th position,whose first preference was DMG.Overall,35 out of top 50 candidates preferred DMG,10 preferred PSP and 5 preferred FSP.Its clear.DMG is on top.And whether a group is top of preferrence list doesn't depend on the topper,rather top position holders i.e first 50.This trend started reverting to DMG fron the 37th common,and has solidified in 39th CTP.40th would be no different.There is only a specific set of people,like FSP,that put PSP at the top.Rest go with the proper preferrence list like DMG,PSP,PCS/FSP.Hope you get the clear point now.

[QUOTE=sarfaraz shami;429777]why psp at the end ?

because i am a person with beard and you know my religion is very dear to me and in Police one is always prone to political pressures and forceful bribes, i cannot withstand either of these so PSP is least preferred group for me...

Problem you discussed is also there in DMG, IRS & PCS. Postal services i think are most less interfered politically.

It is very nice to hear that you give this much importance to religion, it should be our top most priority, but it is an escape and it is a weakness if you think that you can't withstand with political pressures and forceful bribes. We need honest people in every department, if we all will withdraw from facing difficulties and challenges, then who will change the system?being a Muslim, we are made to fight against evils not to opt defensive approach...

Political pressure and corruption is prevalent in each and every government department in one form or another. It is upto you whether you want to indulge in such practices or not. If you want an honest living and dont have the political backing to withstand pressure, chose some other occupation. Civil services is not for you

i think that the best group is the one which has more powers and authority. the number of seats is immaterial. thoe who are unable to withstand political pressure must refrain from joinig civil sevice.

i second the opinion of mano g, but you know if i take a stand against all those evils then all of you know what will happen, i will be thrown to a remote area if i am in a local group or i will face the music by being made OSD( the so called officer on special duty), and what if my seniors have decided to do that is contrary to law/ ethics, i alone would be able to do nothing and if i still confront then i will have to face repercussions..so things are quite nasty but i have thought not to join the PSP atleast and if things are same in other groups as well then come what may, i will do what is right no matter how grave consequences i face, ALLAH is the sole protector and benefactor, i know he will not leave me alone...

sarfaraz shami Tuesday, May 15, 2012 01:06 PM

You are right, but same could be happened in any group. DMG is also prone to political pressure. Allah is protector & benefactor for police group too.

Well, you have given very sound reasons and i agree that it is not easy to withstand here in such difficult and corruption-ridden circumstances and environment, and i know that after getting into the system, people and conditions changes, but still we can strive for change what we could, no matter how minor contribution we could put in to change the things which comes within our domains and jurisdiction, yes, to run the personal businesses and the requirements of a family, not an easy task practically to challenge the bad system and to against it, but still, it is our test as well that how we survive successfully and honestly in the corrupt system.........otherwise it is the minimum level of faith to save ourselves from going in the corrupt departments.
