Default Subjects that proved disastrous in CE-2012?

First, congratulations to the written qualifiers and lots of best wishes for those who could not make this time but will appear next year.

I am starting this thread to keep in account the trend of subjects that brought failure for many of the candidates. After having a cursory look at DMC's of failed candidates, I have got the notion that Essay and Comprehension papers have proved fatal in this year's CSS exam.

Among optionals, Muslim Law seems to be far less scoring as I have hardly found anybody who has scored above 40. After having taken this optional, I am bit worried about this paper as it was not only tough but also counter to the established trend of questions. Though I have cleared the written part, I am still nervy about it.

So guys, what you people think are the subjects that brought gloom to many a candidate in CE-2012?

I am shocked about ML and IR.
I did my best.

Now I'm so much confused about what to opt?

Considering Geography paper was pretty tough, its score has not turned out to be that bad. But IR and ML are shocking!

You have to feel for me as out of abovementioned subjects I have geography, US history, and sociology as my optionals.
Keeping my fingures cross though to defy the odds.

For me IR (36 marks) and US history (47 marks) were the disastrous subjects. Though i have already planned to replace both of them with Islamic history for 2013.
Sociology went fine for me, as i have not prepared it very well and still managed to get 62.

@subahss,

Were you completely satisfied with your ML paper? We all know it was difficult.
