Essay isn't about "data"

It's all about how you structure it

Plus, even 1500 marks can make you pass

Default Structure of essay

Essay consists of 4 parts

1. Outline
2. Intro
3. Body (where all material comes)
4. Conclusion

One's passing or failing depends on 1,2 and 4.

Off course, one has to write in body as well.

I have seen most of the people running after material.

But to be honest, one can pass it without having extra ordinary material.

Note: I am not saying that one shouldn't take "body" as an easy spot.

Now, how to go for all these 4 aforementioned points.

1. Outline:

It has to be a detailed one and should clearly depict all of your essay. Imagine it as "table of contents" of a book. Even by reading it, one gets to know the basic glimpse of the book.

Secondly, your one point in outline should mean that you will be writing a paragraph on it.

2. Introduction:

First sentence should be your thesis statement. Here you will be writing whether you are in favour or against the topic.

Rest whole paragraph should be a sort of precise of your essay/outline.

3. Body:

It should start with introducing the topic.
Then hit the topic directly

And try to touch every aspect of the topic

Let's say, the topic is "free speech should have limitation"

If you are going in favour

Then your body should be like

1. What's free speech
2. Why there should be limitation?
3. On which spheres it should be limited
4. Disadvantages of misuse of free speech
5. Suggestions to limit free speech

3. Conclusion:

Here you try to end your whole discussion.

Simply try to communicate that whatever you have told in the "body" stands true and then stop writing.

Note:

I have appeared thrice in CSS and never failed neither essay nor precise. So, whatever I have told is the method that I used to adopt for myself.

Many would rightly disagree to my method but it always worked for me.

Lastly, there is no hard and fast rule for essay.

One last thing

I have described the STRUCTURE of essay.

If I get time then will explain how to attempt it.
