Members’ frequent inquiry regarding sufficiency of time remaining for CSS-2016
There are many folks here on the forum who are frequently inquiring regarding sufficiency of time remaining for preparation of CSS exam. Many of them, unfortunately, are trying to equate passing the exam with studying the concerned material for a certain number of months/hours. I would like to advise them that:
1. CSS is not an exam requiring a certain amount of hours'/months' preparation. It is an attitude that requires candidates to figure out their ways leading to the destination. So, the number of hours/months required may not be the same for every candidate. What is true for me may not be for you.
2. Besides the pace of assimilation of concepts, the background and aptitude in optional and compulsory subjects plays a lot of role. Therefore, one must take that aspect into consideration while deciding if the time remaining is enough for preparation.
Please don't think that after grinding yourself in a mill for a certain number of hours you will turn out to be the hero. We have witnessed candidates clearing the exam with a preparation of one to two months; while there are candidates who kept studying for as long as two to three years but couldn’t clear the exam.
The purpose is not to demotivate anyone rather devise the right strategy and path to follow.
All the best!
