In previous years we used to see DMCs of successful candidates by now, especially the toppers'. Forum activity has gone down.

Yes you are right, the activity on the forum is going down day by day. Candidates, particlularly the seniors, do not take much interest in the discussion. If the same trend goes on, this forum will lose its significnce.

Farhan Kaif Saturday, June 30, 2018 04:06 PM

They may be busy while enjoying their success.
Give them time please.

Zahra Gillani Saturday, June 30, 2018 04:10 PM

I remember when i used to visit this forum to see DMCs of both unsuccessful and successful candidates. I often enjoy it. But now things have been changed. Totally changed. Even our respected senior last island is now gone. I know when she replied to most of the posts even after midnight.:(

Shahidhailian Saturday, June 30, 2018 04:11 PM

apparently trend has changed, as LAST ISLAND use to post every year css result but i think she is too busy to do that and successful allotees were assigned a distinctive css medal thats missing too. i dont know whats going on

Ibn e Nasrullah Saturday, June 30, 2018 05:01 PM

Facebook groups have taken the role of CSS FORUM I guess. I\'m seeing successful candidates sharing their joys in fb groups.

Right now i have seen 4 DMCs and 3 of them had opted accounting as a 200 marks' subject and only one had opted political science. Due to scoring high in these subject, they have manged to land among top 30. I haven't seen a single DMC of a person who has opted IR among the top qualifiers. If someone here knows of someone who opted IR and has managed to clinch a good position and allocation in top groups (PAS, PSP, FSP), please do share on the forum. I'm curious to know, if those who opted IR are doomed because of this subject. Though i have started loving IR already but seeing the DMCs i'm compelled to switch it with political science, as accounting is not for everybody without a background in it. It's not only about passing the css, you have to score high to land among top qualifiers and get allocation in your desired group and optionals do make a difference in this regard, as far as i have observed till now. Please help..

If you see the DMCs of CSS 2016 qualifies, then you will notice that all the top position holders had IR as an optional. However, this year FPSC targetted IR and it was a downfall for whoever opted it in 2017. Every year different subject is targeted by FPSC, and you simply can't predict which one they will target. So it is better to stick to the subject you are interested in and believe that you can score good marks in it.

dr anum rashid Wednesday, July 04, 2018 12:02 PM

It was targeted in 2016 as well, especially paper 2. I myself scored 102 in IR i 2016 (69+33). I was quite satisfied with my score as i studied it for a week and half only. Many who opted IR in 2016 failed, specifically in paper 2. But it was somehow balanced as toppers scored good in IR the same year. So it was obvious those who studied conceptually and answered properly in the exam, scored good, despite the trend. But seeing the DMCs of 2017 qualifiers, this looks like an extreme. Not a single person among top qualifiers with IR? this is quite discouraging..

Thanks for sharing your DMC & congratulations for landing in PSP. A lil ray of hope for those who have opted IR. Though score in IR isn't very encouraging in your case too but seems like your score in CA and GS somehow balanced that. Please also share how you handled GS. which books or material you studied for it?

I think choosing a topic in which very few people were able to interpret correctly was the key in my case. Rest its practice and reading Dawn regularly.
