I have also opted for both Pure and Applied Math. As far as applied maths is concerned, I have already covered 100% syllabus in university(with numerical analysis, 30% of applied math in CSS, at masters level).

As for pure maths, I have studied 50% at bachelor level. I am confident that with some prep, I can cover the rest of pure maths.

The thing is, if you are strong at maths, you can take it on. Seeing pure maths past papers gives me creeps but I believe I can put great hard work where my interest lies and that is maths. I'm sad that it will only yield me 200/600 :(
i have done B.sc genral maths. I am planning to opt pure mathematics with statistics. What do you say pure maths is tough in comparison to applied mathematics.
Reply awaited..
Kind Regards

Its not about tough. I have already studied the whole syllabus of Applied Math so it looks easy to me.

I have only studied 50% of Pure Math syllabus and 30% of statistics syllabus. The only reason I am opting for pure math is because I have less things to cover as compared to statistics. I have no idea how difficult the topics are but they must e doable.

can i choose applied mathematics ( only of 100 numbers) with Computer Sciences???

Kamranbashir Thursday, April 27, 2017 01:04 AM

Nope

Hi Anisa
No you can't because Computer sciences is in Group A & applied is in group B. You have select either Pure or Any other like Physics. Please bare in mind you cant select subjects carrying less than 200 in group B.

Need help choosing Maths!!!

1. So I was thinking that I should only choose applied maths. Is that possible?

2. Or is it a necessary condition for one to choose either both or none?

3. Can I choose only applied maths from this group of optional subjects? Or am I required to complete 200 marks from this group?

Would be helpful for a 22-year-old newbie on her 1st try! :shy
