@waqas ali khan
Pure mathematics is a little bit tough to handle as compare to app maths. normally the aspirants having the background from mathematics upto their masters like to chose pure mathematics as their optional.because they have the concepts for it.and the topic like,group theory, metric and complex numbers requires the conceptual approach.but at the end its upto you,considers your aptitude, interest while choosing the pure maths as your optional.
good luck
best regards,

yupe.if the purpose is mere to pass. then the potential of complex analysis is enough.but when you really want to do it for good marks.then there required a thorough study of vector space, group theory and ring theory etc...
regards,
