13-CHARACTER & ESTIMATE OF BABUR
The founder of Mughal empire: VIEWS OF HISTORIANS: 1. V.Smith “the most brilliant Asiatic prince of his age & worthy of high place among the sovereigns of any age or country” 2. Havell says “His engaging personality, artistic temperament & romantic career make him one of the most attractive figures in the history of Islam” 3. Farishta writes, “Babur was handsome, his address was engaging & unaffected, his countenance was pleasing & his disposition affabl” o Babur was unquestionably ‘a man of outstanding genesis, a lover of fine arts, a born naturalist, a keen & critical observer of men & things & an accomplished writer who immortalized himself, not merely as the founder of one of the most glorious dynasties that have ruled in India but also as the prince of autobiographers by bequeathing to posterity his delightful Memoirs. o As a man o His private life marked by a standard of morality o As a soldier & general “He was “an admirable horsemen, a fine shot, a good sportsman & mighty hunter” o As a ruler -In his vast domination that extended “From Bhera (Bahran) in the west to Bihar in the east, from the Himalyas in the north to Chanderi in the sourth, o As an administrator -followed the administration system of Delhi Sultanate o Interesting Personality in Asia Babur “ is one of the most human & interesting personalities in the history of Asia. He is the link between Central Asia & India, between pre-datory hordes & imperial govt, between Taimur & Akbar”, says Lane Poole -“He was one of those restless men “who are so active in mind & body that they are never idle & always find time for everything”. -Tuzke Babri or Memoirs of Babur o An accomplished ruler in Indo-Pakistan o His place in history -His permanent place in history “rests upon his Indian conquests which opened the way for an imperial line; but his place in biography and in literature is determined rather by his daring adventures and persevering efforts in his earlier days, and by the delightful Memoirs in which he related them.” Lane Poole |

14-BABUR’S MEMOIRS/ TUZKE BABRI
Frank & authentic records of Babur’s life & reign Simple Style Historical value Tuzk-e-Babri or Babur Nama was autobiography of Babar, it exposes political social & economic condition of that time, besides, it also expresses the tendencies of the Babur’s career. Lane Poole says “The utter frankness of self-revelation, the unconscious truthfulness and fine sense of humour give the Memoirs an authority which is equal to their charm. If ever there was case when the testimony of a single historical document, unsupported by other evidence, should be accepted as sufficient proof of it, it is the case with Babur’s Memoirs”. Babur’s attitude towards Hindustan, “The people are not handsome, they have no idea of the charm of friendly society; According to him, “the chief excellence of India is that it is a big country with plenty of gold & silver”. Owing to Babur’s autobiography he earns him as a “Prince of Autobiographers”. He wrote his autobiography in Turki language, it was translated into Persian by Abdur Rahman Khan-i-Khanna during the Akbar’s period. And later on, it was translated into English by Erskin, Beveridge and others. Babur has been completed Now I am going to start Humayoun |

One thing should be noted, read K.Ali, twice and thrice make a general theme and practice them. Most important thing is that to attempt past papers and then get them checked by some one who is good at this subject. Besides, I would suggest you to make your own charts, maps. Draw chronological charts and paste them on wall, as I have done it, my room is like a library. I have posted charts of different subjects, and reading them one by one and after grasping replace them with new ones. And yes, if you are reading any emperor like Babur, Akbar or Humayun, just feel them, read them with craze, it must be a matter of serious concern for you to read them completely. Use net, encyclopedia, Wikipedia and different books. Don't leave any topic untill you feel satisfied. The book which are good for Indopak are Sohail Bhatti (this is the best book I have ever read), then off course K.Ali is the best one too. Read it too but generally.
Indo-Pak Books Paper A. K.Ali and Sohail Bhatti Paper B. K.Ali and Rabbani Note: Many people will suggest you to read K.K Aziz, I.H Qureshi and other books. I read them, to be honest, they people derailed me. No doubt, these books are good but are additional. We don't have to do Phd in Indopak. We have to prepare for CSS. other books are additional. Just read them what I have suggested you. The rest you are the master of your own decision. My strategy to prepare a subject.. a. Go through the past papers (15 to 20) years. b. Get them printed by your printer. c. Point out the questions which are usually asked and repeated.. d. Then start first reading from K.Ali (note: don't touch Sohail Bhatti's book now, because, now you have to be familiar with indopak first, and read only K.Ali generally, don't make notes or any thing) e. After completing K.Ali's both books, read it again from the beginning (note: now you have to read K.Ali along with Sohail Bhaitti topic by topic wise. Now you are clearing every point. Besides, most important thing is that to make your own short notes, point out the quotations, as I have done. f. Notes should be divided into two portion i.e fist, short notes, long notes. Long notes for repeating your book and short notes for cramming important facts and figures and statistics. g.Then, attempt them from past 10 years' papers. Device a time table, attempt one paper every day and get it checked by your companion, teacher or any one who is good at it. (I got my attempts checked by one of my friends, now she is in DMG group) h. Last but not the least, believe in your own potentials, just be confident, and think on that you are the best one and no one can beat you , you are alone one man army and you have your own style and lethal weapons to beat the army. Never ever feel disappointed, demotivated in any stage of your preparation, I remember once I was disappointed and my friend told me that Never Never give and and don't be fed up or disappoint just be ready to kill or be killed in your preparation. Her golden words relaxed me and made me highly confident, believe me you can do it, you can get through with flying colors if you believe in your own potentials... I wish you good luck to all of you my friends... |
