U may take Eng Literature if u have studied it at Masters level otherwise it is a forthright say that english literature is not a scoring optional.

Yes it is a scoring subject. One of my buddy got 120 marks in Css later on Came 3rd in Punjab Public Service Commision Lecturor test. But he could not qualify for the interview. Passed in all the papers but failed to get 600 Marks. So I consider it a scoring subject. Moreover, its helpful in other subjects as well as particularly essay and Presic

i agree with I M Possible, if you have studied it at an advanced level you should not face any problem with it. the major problem that people face is that they dont have control over the matter and cannot attempt because they have no studied it in depth.
i would like to mention here that i got 95 in total out of 200 ... thats not such a good score. but when i look at the fact that i hardly went through the text or the notes i had for literature & just glanced through the whole of the matter in a night then i realize that if i had studied i would have got around 120 or 130. i didnt know the poetry part at all. all i did was to reproduce whatever i remembered studying for my masters.
i would personally suggest to go for it IF you have studied it at masters level or you are too much brilliant/brainy to cope up with a full length subject. nothing is easy or hard, its just how you feel & interpret it that makes it scoring or non-scoring.
anyway, good luck.

I have already given the reasons. Moreover, there is a highest frequency of CSS qualifiers who opt English Lit.

its just misconception about literature that its not scoring one.if you are well prepared then you can score good marks. but keep in mind that its not mathematics in which u get cent per cent marks its LITERATURE which demands reasoning to prove your point and still there remains room for better answer.when you have logical points to prove your point of view you will certainly do well.
