Shakespeare:
English literature is replete with the writers who inspired the world through their writings. Among those inspirational writers Shakespeare stands unique of all. Before him literature was study of society, it was Shakespeare who showed human psyche and psychological problems of man. Thus, Shakespeare is widely known as poet of man. As far as his tragedies are concerned, they are of great importance in the realm of English literature. By using blank verse in tragedies he perfected the form of tragedy and paved the way for later dramatists. Shakespeare's use of words is outstanding. In fact, he gives music to his text without musical instruments by upholding rhythm in text. However, Shakespeare's greatness can be proved with a single argument that he has shown both sides of mirror in his works by writing comedies and tragedies for comic and tragical elements are the part of human behavior. No any other writer can be found who wrote both comedies and tragedies as perfect as he did.

Francis Bacon:
In pope's words, he was wisest, meanest and brightest of mankind. Francis Bacon is scientist and essayist of Elizabethan era but he gained fame by writing essays. He was first man to use word essay in England. Montaigne was a man who influenced him. He is originator of essays and his most famous work "Essais" is based upon personal opinions. In other words, Montaigne's essays are subjective but Bacon being infulenced from Montaigne, wrote objective essays which are still celebrated. Bacan's chief characteristic is his aphoristic style. Aphorism can be defined as use of concise statement having high doses of wit. Words he used in his essays are capsules of wisdom. Another characteristic which makes him unique of all other essayists is his explanation of his own idea. In fac, he explains himself his statement whatever he says in his essays. Summing up, he stands at highest level because of his content and form.

Ben Jonson:
Renaissance movement introduced great writers to English literature like Shakespeare, Bacon, Spenser and Ben Jonson. Ben Jonson comes under the category of prominent writers of renaissance. He was pure classicist and just oppose to Shakespeare as he has criticized him bitterly. He gained fame by writing comedies, among his comedies four comedies are considered to have influence over others. In other words, his four comedies including The Alchemist, The Silent Women, Volpone and Bartholomew fair are considered to be of great importance. Ben Jonson also tried to write tragedies but he could write only two tragedies on Greek model. These could not succeed for Shakespeare had changed the minds of people regarding tragedy. In fact Shakespeare gave new shape to tragedy. Thus his tragedies could not defend themselves.
