Sorry to barge in. I attempted GS this yr. Got marks in 70s. I would suggest not to take it. 2 years in a row it got great marks. It might get butchered next just like env sciences, or US history or IR.
Just keep that in mind.

Sorry. It might be an unpopular opinion.
I second your opinion. I have already opted for Environmental and still I will go with envir.
Anum Zara But ES is technical subject we cannot write our own opinion in it... It is based on Convention & Protocol.
ES is not technical subject. There is no need to cram. Just read the stuff from good sources and reproduce it in your own words in exams. Only two chapters have contents which require cramming to certain extent. Go with your interest and aptitude. Try to distinguish your paper from others to get good score.

Aapki baat sahi magar generally the more candidates opt a subject the higher the chances of it getting butchered. It happened with journalism, sociology, then IR, USA history and I think to some extent env sciences.
They do it to kill this whole "yeh scoring subject hai" thing. Makes sense. So many people are opting GS now so that's why I said ke kuch bhi ho sakta hai.

Khair, I shouldn't act like a know-it-all here. This was just my observation so I shared it. If you want to opt this subject then make sure you nail your side of the paper. Pass bhi tu kerte he hain log, abhi bhi IR mein kiya.
I agree the more the students take a certain subject as optional the more will be the competition resulting in less scores for average papers. If I am not wrong, 312 has cleared written and I can bet that 150-250 will have IR as optional subject. They must have written something better and distinguished from others. Journalism and sociology had low scoring trend in past result as well. IR and US history are also medium scoring subjects and they were attempted by majority. So, undoubtedly extra efforts were required to score 60-75 marks. Average papers had no chance to fetch even average marks.
I have not shared my dmc here but as you have talked about nailing the subject so, let me tell you that I have scored 85 in GS in this attempt with just few hour preparation covering 20-30% of syllabus. After exams, I had switched GS with ES as my paper did not went that well. I am done preparing ES now and totally confuse about choosing subjects for upcoming proper attempt.

Actually science subjects are less scoring but not environmental science. It is not a science at all. I am going to take opinion of my seniors now.

I have scored 85 in GS in this attempt. This is confusing me now. I am not going with trend. I just want to take opinions to decide.

I have myself opted E.S though many people are saying that E.S is wrong choice but I am confident I will pass this subject. and as the css result's trend also suggest that same subject is not scoring every year.

Great marks in gender studies and all other subjects except IR. IR has been really butchered this year.

As for gender, I hope it will not get butchered in near future like more established subjects. Gender studies is a relatively new subject and probably included into curriculum due to insistence of feminist or gender activists. The paper setter or checker would also be same activist. I hope that their aim would be to promote the subject as much as possible.
Rest, it is all an assumption. It might as well get butchered in coming year.
