Is C.L advisable?
hello friends;
kindly tell us abt the nature of constitutional law as a subject not withstanding its relation with political science. Is C.L lengthy and does it take too much of a time in preparation? good preparation that is. we know it hasnt been very scoring of late but is it time-consuming as well as far as preparation is concerned.???? Those who are preparing or have prepared for it are requested to share their experience.... my subjects are as follows: 1) Indo-pak history 2) sociology 3) journalism 4) I.R 5) Constitutional law........ if C.L is not advisable then plz suggest the 100 mark alternate subject. looking forward to response Thanks |

Hi friend,
I would advice you to opt it as it is a very easy subject.I am preparing this subject and i found this subject very interesting.There are six constitutions in it but it is not necessary to prepare all. But my advice to you is that you should start with British constitution as it is mother of all constitutions after it study American constitution and remaining constititions are just derived from these constitutions.By studying in this order will help you greatly. It is not that lengthy there are main topics like judiciary,Parliament, system of government and political parties and some others which you will have to prepare really nicely. Atleast to me it is not time consuming. Its objectives are quite easy and i am preparing objectives side by side with each constitution. Regarding your choice of subjects i think they are all good.Four of your subjects are mine too. I think you should start your preparation now without any worry. Wish you best of luck.

@ Junaid,
I think it is not a very difficult subject and any person can do it.Just by studying British constitution you can get the initial idea about this subject. Read the British constitution carefully and the remaining will not remain difficult for you. All constitutions are same in basics and yes in certain aspects they are different but that doesn't mean thay are difficult ar out of reach. Here are some books which i am using and i found them good and sufficient for CSS preparation. Here they are, 1.World constitutions by Kaeley. 2.How states are governed by Sohail Bhatti. 3.Constitutions of the world by Vishnoo Bhagwan and Vidya Bhushan. 4.Modern constitutions by Mazhar ul haq. 5.Constitutional development in Pakistan by G.w.Chaudhry. I found these books really nice and these are what i have for this subject beside some help from internet. It is not time consuming subject as i am appearing in 2011 so i am preparing it gradually with other subjects.Just preparing two constitutions in one month and that's it. Its objectives are quite easy and after studying all constitutions i am sure you will also find objectives quite easy.Just prepare them side by side and you will face no problem in this area. And in the end i would say that man can do anything and if you study with full devotion this subject will become the most easiest for you. Wish you best of luck.

Subject selection is the most important and crucial stage/step in the prep.of the CSS exam.You consider the following points before opting ur optionals: 1-Scoring Value of the subject 2-your aptitude 3-your background Now,if you could find all of the three factors combined in one subject,that is the most suitable choice.Otherwise, give top priority to the factor no.1 i.e the scoring value of a subject.A scoring subject is the one that maintains a consistent track record in terms of high scoring. Keeping this in mind,i dont and cant recommend you to go for C-Law.Even you should reconsider your other optionals i.e IR and Indo Pak hist.Journalism is a very good subject. Sociology........thek hay. You can have a look on the following choices 1-Punjabi(or any other regional language that suits you) 2-Islam.Hist and Cult(keeps a consistent track record) 3-American History (never disappoints) 4-Arabic (not good for the last two years but it has been very scoring and ppl got reasonable scores even in the worst times) 5-Persian (very high scoring and immune from bad patches) 6-Psycholoy(Highly recommendable-it has seen no zig zags in terms of scoring ratio---always scoring) 7-Geography(very high scoring for the last two or three years) I hope I have been able to agitate your mind so far and that is what I wanted to do.It is for all those who are in the process of subject selection at this stage when they have atleast one year for preparation at their disposal. I repeat,subject selection is the most important stage in the preparation of the exam.U can take even one more month in selecting ur optionals,but once u r done with it,then................. Good Luck and I hope u make a rational decision.
