Default Philosophy 2020 Paper (Objective and Subjective)

Part II (Subjective)

Q.3 'Doubt' is the key point of Cartesian Method. Illuminate.

Q.4 Bergson rejects any kind of 'teleological' explanation of evolution. Give your own opinion.

Q.5 Illustrate the main characteristics of subjective idealism of Berkeley.

Q.6 Main idea of Kant's ethics is 'duty for the sake of duty'. Is it justified? Give your own statement

Q.7 Write an essay on Ibn-e-Sina's theory of knowledge.

Q.8 Write short notes on any TWO of the following:
(a) Psychological and ethical egoism
(b) Transcendentalism
(c) Derrida
--------------------------------------------------------------

Part I Objective

1. Who said the words 'know thyself'? Socrates (but it's not his invention so)
2. Who said that philosophy begins as 'a kind of wonder'? (not sure between Plato and Socrates)
3. The idea of Geist was given by: Hegel
4. Uyun al Hikmah was written by: Ibn Sina
5. Who said that to be is to be perceived: Berkeley
6. Hujjut al Balighah written by: Shah Wali Ullah
7. 'Real is rational and rational is real' is said by: Hegel
8. Who talked of life force vs. matter (options were Islamic philosophers, Ghazali, Ibn Sina etc)
9. Who said 'truth is that which works': (not sure between Pierce, James, Rorty)
10. The philosophy that says 'greatest happiness of the greatest maximum people' is: Utilitarianism
11. Discourse a la Method is written by: Descartes
12. Something related to ethics like 'it is better to control --- than to punish'.. I can't recall.

These are all the MCQs I managed to note down, but rest assured that other MCQs were similar. Hopefully someone else will fill the gaps and provide answers where I couldn't give them.

This paper was really easy. This was the only subject I didn't worry about.
