Yeah Punjabi is a bit strange to apprehend.
I bought punjabi book back in 2010 and could never read its 2 papers in one go. Actually our mind is not ready so we take it easy and pre-occupied thinking that Punjabi is not easy. Then fears and many myths how to write it.

My Journey of Punjabi

I took only 2 days to read Punjabi and went in CE-2013 and did very well (as far as i think).

What to do?

Donot go to the Sufi Poetry first. That is very tough. You will rea only one verse and will be almost slapped by the old words and you will keep the book in the shelves again.

Go to the Prose Part First and finish it.

Approach is Easy to Difficult.

First Read Hath Novel. Very interesting. You will get go.

Then go for the Tahli Dy Thalay and Kaliyan Ittan Kalay Roarh.

Then go for Seerat-e-Nabi.

Till now you would have developed quite familiarity with the words.

Now its time to go for the Big Shot.

Khutbat-e-Iqbal and Moaz-e-Nosha. Very Important.

They can take time but they cannot be left on choice. If you leave, you leave yourself at the mercy of the paper.

This is your 50% Paper done. It requires hardly 8 days and 2-3 hours if in routine. No need to read Ramaz Part.

Then poetry comes. It takes time and difficulty yes.......not a walk in the park.

But many verses of Bhulley Shah and Sultan Bahu are encountered by us. Brain storm the things and put paddle on those memory parts and muster as many verses as you can. You can listen to Bhuylley Shah by Azmat Ali, Abida Perveen and then you will realize that you almost know these poets. Then some ones are not that much In among the singers.

Do some work. Lok Geets fully give you 20 marks.

So out of Sufi Poets and New Poets you have got choice to go for rest of the 20 marks.

No need to go for Dastaans.

I did the same and am sure i will get good marks.

But donot further shorten it otherwise you will make a sorry figure on the day.

Punjabi is written as Urdu. No issue. I was afraid. Try to elucidate in own words and use beautiful words. Talk punjabi and take the help of mother and father and anyone near you to speak punjabi and feel it inside you. yOU WILL love it.

During the Folks you will feel as if you are in a village and singing those folks and when going through Sufis feel its depth. It will be easy.

To tell you i did all in almost 2 and half a day. I awoke on 14 February at around 6 am and below my pillow was punjabi book. I was tensed how to make it? I was thinking i will lose the game and i have made a horrible mistake by opting it. A moment came and i took the book and on the bed i read all the Hathh Novel till 7 am and concluded that "YES I can do it.......i am in and then i dived in it and by 16 Punjabi book was closed. Khutbat-e-Iqbal were really tough and Moaz-e-Nosha but manageable.

I wrote so much to help those who are still behind that corner and barrier of reading and writing punjabi. My story can tell you how difficult is that.

I never wrote punjabi before neither did i read it before.

So BEST LUCK ENOUGH NOW.............

There is no English in the subject unlike other languages. You have to write the entire paper in pnj language. Check out the past papers, some of them are posted in the form of pictures, see how the questions are asked there.
