sociology prep

this is the first time ill be studying sociology as ive not been academically attached with sociolgy before..i need help as to which book should I pick to study first inorder to build a sound background in sociolgy...can anyone suggest me good book to start studying sociology??? waiting for a senior help

My layman approach suggests you to consult "penguins dictionary of sociology" in order to get yourself familiar with terminologies and jargons, its not that big or thick, moreover every concept is explained in sufficient detail (as in books) unlike typical dictionaries and is easily available in cheap (60-80 Rs) paperback edition. Together with this you can keep ABDUL HAMEED TAGA'S or IQBAL CHAUHDHRY'S sociology for css.

I Recommend You The Horton And Hunt .read It Slowly And Try To Understand It

The second one is very simple and comprehensive, I suggest you to read it first and then start the first one.
