As far as the psychological effects of terrorism are concerned I have seen on the TV many times the psychologists using the term PTSD

This stands for "Post Traumatic Stress Disorders" and it involves anxiety disorders related to terrorism and any form of traumatic event like earthquakes, wars and similar etc.

You can read out a complete wikipedia article on PTSD here

Moreover, I have also seen in documentaries that many of the world war soldiers who managed to survive but later they were so much mentally disturbed.

I hope you can find some facts while searching for PTSD over the internet
I'll also try to add some if I get

@MohsinShah

Thank you very much brother.

I appeal to others members too to just comment on this topic. It is not necessary to go into technicalities. Your general observation and personal feelings after observing or experiencing terrorist actions can well add to this topic. Please share your views on the psychological effect and societal effect of terrorism wave.

There may by any related question in sociology paper tomorrow.

Thank you Iram.

My question is very specific. It requires only psychological and sociological effects of terrorism.

Default Effect of terrorism on psyche and society

AOA,
I'm just listing down few points collectively(both on psyche and society), running short of time actually.

1- A state of hopelessness
2- Low Self-Esteem
3- Increased suicide ratio
4- Feeling of insecurity/ lawlessness
5- Pent up rage against U.S.A
6- Hatred against Government and Defense Units due to their passive role
7- A trend of Suicide Attacks
8- Uncertainty about our future

and one thing tht u can work on is, the psyche behind being dominant and its impact in the lives of people.
gotta go.

( I was to post the below reply much earlier but unfortunately the DSL went down for a long time )

Ok Raz bhai no technicalities, simple observations

Psychological Aftermath

1 - Increased fear levels in individuals
2 - Uncertainty regarding future causes anxiety and stress in the youth especially
3 - PTSD covers everything

Sociological Aftermath

1 - Destruction of family structure (in case some one loses a family member)

2 - Joblessness resulting from lack of investment and further resulting in many other problems (youth getting involved in non productive, criminal activities etc.)

3 - Socio-political restlessness resulting from terrorism can cause disharmony among various community units (e.g. every one is blaming the Mullahs for that however all of them are definitely not the cause of terrorism but still the whole community gets targeted and naturally they retaliate which causes further disharmony) This point can be increased to include disharmony among social groups and organization, government and subjects etc.

4 - Socio-economic problems can also be discussed like flow of capital to safer foreign markets and its results on the society (you are way much better than me at this)

5 - Increase in crime rate

In short, I believe that terrorism triggers a chain reaction of enourmous sociological problems. Most of the social unrest causes can be linked in turn to terrorism.

“Effect of terrorism / suicide attacks on our psyche and on Society”. A very interesting topic.

A few things that come to my mind after reading the topic are:

Feelings of fear, distrust, anger and hatred among the people.

Social disintegration: hatred among various classes/ communities/ ethical entities.

The situation is resulting in enhancing the gap between the have's and have not's.

People are gradually becoming hopeless of theirs' and their society's future.

Worst Effect: People are becoming careless of others' pain and grief and becoming self-centered.
