Good Paper,
A bit lengthy Subjective portion due to lack of Muslim Scientists, abbreviations, (containing only two parts of differentiation) & defination type questions.
but still a Good paper indeed.Students having background in Biological sciences will perform better in this paper.
Best of luck to all CE-2013 aspirants.

Stay Blessed.

This Mcq is actually incorrect,I have myself taught epidemiology for almost one year and its not specifically related to microbiology.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study (or the science of the study) of the patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in defined populations. It is the cornerstone of public health, and informs policy decisions and evidence-based medicine by identifying risk factors for disease and targets for preventive medicine. Epidemiologists help with study design, collection and statistical analysis of data, and interpretation and dissemination of results (including peer review and occasional systematic review). Epidemiology has helped develop methodology used in clinical research, public health studies and, to a lesser extent, basic research in the biological sciences...

salinity increases with the depth

Hoodwink Saturday, March 02, 2013 01:15 PM

clarifications

40- abducent nerve is type of Cranial nerve
34- question asked is wrong (epidemiology is not area of Microbiology)
epidemiology , however, seems more correct keeping in mind the last part of question.contrarly, parasitology seems more correct considering first part of question.
Both parts have no scientific and logical relation.

50- smallest is nucleotide but unit is gene, what is correct examiner can explain better. whether he wanted to check the kowledge of UNIT or size or composition.

Hoodwink Saturday, March 02, 2013 01:19 PM

24- U 235 is fissile material and U 238 is fissionable. Enriched uranium is U 235. So, most demanded for nuclear fuel is U 235

Hoodwink Saturday, March 02, 2013 06:11 PM

38 confirmed
04 still in doubt
08 absolutely wrong

2nd part of paper is general and it will be low scoring. very hard to score more than 65 for any one science or non-science student and doctor or engineer.

FELLOWS , it's good to argue and debate on confusing topics.

But if most people are using Internet for cssforum , why can't they surf the net for correct answers?

Obviously Tiger is the biggest animal of the cat family, no point in arguing here, and someone has written Saudi Arabia lies on the equator.CAN'T he check for a minute before messing up things?

Forum is very helpful but I must say that often things get messy here due to irresponsible and unverified comments.
Juniors often get confused due to this.
So plz all try to argue on issues not on established science.

THANKS

i am amazed at eds mcqs at least they should give level playing ground to aspirants from all the fields, not making only biology to be the standard for the css , and then some mcqs are confusing such as about motion of earth ,there was Galileo, and before that was Nicolaus Copernicus(which was not mentioned)

or about blood group it was difficult again and needed higher background from medical side

,on the other side chemistry ,geography,(physics was touched to some extent at a lower level) was not focused. they should consider that css is also taken by engineers, accountants, social science students, architects, managers, artists ,lawyers etc

don't you think that much talent has been hardly checked or diversity has been not engaged/encouraged seeing their capabilities

I am not defending myself and i might be wrong ,but its my own opinion

awais274 Monday, March 11, 2013 07:46 PM

IT'S Copernicus , and so the answer was none of these. NONE of these means whole universe other than a , b or c.

Two of the MCQS relating to human biology , I have got wrong ,after six years of medical college , and my friend also , who is also a doctor.
The question of allergy and vaccination was a ridiculous one, ask any doctor.
But overall the paper was biased in favour of biology background students, and we harvested the crops of this paper.

you are correct..but i searched on google..there are vaccine (allergy shots) which are used to strengthen immune system..what do you think?

Vaccines are to protect against infections not allergies.
IgE antibody plays a role in allergic reactions. Bro, the question was not right, I didn't attempt it , because of its ambiguous nature.
