Inclusion of Fata in KPK?
 

Fata reforms is in the limelight, some suggest to make it a new Province while other says it would be a grave mistake to do so, giving example of Gilgit-baltistan. What do you suggest? should it be incorporated with KPK or made a separate province or be retained as it is.
You may say whatever you conclude, but history seems to be supportive of the second choice, inclusion of Fata in KPK. For instance, committee formed by General Musharraf, in 2006, concluded that the best option for mainstreaming Fata was to make it part of KPK. Besides this, in 1976 Bhutto sahab made a committee to create a framework to merge Fata with KPK.

FATA should have been included in the NWFP (now KPK) immediatly after the creation of Pakistan. If that would have been done, there would have no problem of Taliban and extremism now. FATA was the need of British Indian government, not the need of Pakistan.

FATA, being an essential part of our country, is suffering under this rule after independence. The rights of the people are not granted and they differ and are minimal from the rights of the rest of the country. They don't have their say of their own in the form of provincial assembly. The federal representation from FATA cannot make laws for FATA, making their presence as bogus parliamentarians. It is the president and governor who, kind of, rules on FATA. Thus, to make them out of misery, reforms talks should never be sabotaged on political basis. It is actually politics that refrain them from becoming a province. Merging them with KPK would be good, giving them their own province would be much better. But this has to be solved. Adding another point, Gilgit Baltistan is not a province and it has not been given a constitutional status, so comparing FATA on that model would be unfair. It would also be good to make GB also a complete and full-fledged province.

What I have been able to understand is that Gilgit-Baltistan was parts of Jammu and Kashmir so the resolution of UN also applies on GB. Without referendum GB can not be integrated into Pakistan. But there is no such resolution for FATA. It can be simply made different province without any hindrance.

FATA must be made separate province. Being a part of KPK they will be neglected the way South Punjab is neglected by Lahore today. FATA has its own identity and power should be in the hands of its people and they should not be directed from Peshawer.

A separate province will be better for people of FATA. Mergering FATA with KPK will be beneficial for KPK.

To made it separate Province may exaggerate the situation. As far as i think it must be made a part of KPK and given equal right same as being given to any other part of the province.
[B][U] MOREOVER[/U][/B], It is not a concrete reason for not merging FATA in KPK that it would be neglected.
[B][U] AS FAR AS[/U][/B] your concern about taking dictation from Peshawar, it is a baseless point of view. Because,selected member by that area would have power in PA as well as in NA to put forward their demands for the betterment of their area.

Brother, FATA cannot be made a separate Province, for it does not fullfil the criteria of to be a separate province. First, It is very small. From north to south, it is 1299 Km. Second, There is no such a central location that can be easily accessible by the people, so no agreed location for provisional capital. BUT, there are many reasons to merge it with kpk, and one of those is: People of the FATA and people living in vicinity, Peshawar, Charsada, Bannu etc, have a lot of things common. For instant, Both speak same language, Pashto. Moreover, they have same culture and traditions.

Besides this, now come to your other point- people wil be neglected. If FATA is merged in KPK, being a big province, it will have great say in national affairs.

For precautions, not be neglected, there quota and other privileges should be continue after inclusion.
