CPEC is aimed to rapidly expand and upgrade the infrastructure as well as to deepen and broaden Pakistan-china relationship.
The corridor is considered to be a wing of China’s ambitious 21st century Silk Road initiative.

When Chinese leader Xi Jinping visited Central Asia(Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan ) and South-East Asia [(Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Vietnam and West Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia),Maritime Southeast Asia, which comprises the countries of: Brunei (on the island of Borneo), East Malaysia (with the Malayan states of Sabah and Sarawak on the northern part of Borneo), all the islands of Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Timor-Leste (East Timor)].

Xi Jinping raised the initiative; of jointly building the Silk Road and the 21st century Maritime Silk Road. Essentially, the 'belt' includes countries situated on the original Silk Road through Central Asia, West Asia(Iran, Armenia, Oman, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, United Arab Emirate, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordon), the Middle East (Turkey, Cyprus, Israel, The west Bank, The Gaza Strip, Egypt, Sudan, Libya) and Europe.
The initiative calls for the integration of the region into a cohesive economic area through building infrastructure, increasing cultural exchanges, and broadening trade.
Pakistan estimates the corridor project will create some 700,000 direct jobs between 2015–2030 and add up to 2.5 percentage points to the country's growth rate.

As part of infrastructure projects, an1,100 kilometre long motorway will be constructed between the cities of Karachi and Lahore, while the Karakoram Highway between Rawalpindi and the Chinese border will be completely reconstructed and overhauled. The Karachi–Peshawar main railway line will also be upgraded to allow for train travel at up to 160 kilometres per hour by December 2019.
Over $33 billion worth of energy infrastructure will be constructed by private consortia to help alleviate Pakistan's chronic energy shortages.

China–Pakistan Economic Corridor is not just about building roads, its China’s assistance in the shape of a bulk of projects, to tug Pakistan out of different crises.
