In my thinking the main stream of education system can be divided into following three broader caterogires:

i). primary education (upto class 5)
ii). secondary and higher secondary education (from class 6 to class 12)
iii). tertiary/higher/university education (beyond class 12)

the present government intiated tremondous steps for upgradation of education particularly higher education, the same is evident from the budgetary allocation for the higher education sector. similarly many steps have been taken by provincial governments of punjab and sindh for uplifting the standards in their respective provinces.

every thing of a nation has dependancy on education. it is only a well educated nation that can prosper well in the world arena. the education should not only be professional education like engineering or medicine but every discipline/field e.g social sciences, agriculture etc. should be given equal priorities.

Some of the suggestions for improvement of education in country are as under:

- Number of schools/colleges/institutions needs to be increased and already existing institutions needs to be strengthened
- number of teachers should be increased
- teachers should be given pre-service/in-service training
- better emoluments and facilities should be provided to teachers
- at present there are two broader categories of schools/education i.e. eastern setup and western education system. Differences in both systems of education should be cleared and a unifom system of education needs to be provided
- text books/syllabi need to be revamped to increase the thinking of students
- currently, schools are only imparting education, whereas there should be some mechanism to generate knowledge

in my opinion, our way of teaching is totally wrong......now let me explain why:

1.
from class 1 uptill class 12, the teachers mostly encourage students to memorize the questions.....even the questions given in examinations are mostly of "what" and "how" type, while more emphasis should be given to "why" type of questions.

hence, the students, bright and intelligent they maybe, are more prone to rote learning rather then creating their own concepts.....creativity is the key to development.......by virtue of the current educational system, the creativity of a child is being diminished and hence all we are creating is a bunch of robots who cannot think for themselves.

2.
a recent survey showed that the level of education of an 11th grade student of Pakistan is equal to that of a 6th grade student in Japan.
another survey showed that about 40% teachers of primary schools do not even know simple multiplication and division.

this we have to remedy.......the teachers should be highly qualified and strict check should be kept upon schools and teachers.

3.
Primary Education should be given utmost importance, for the time-being........yes, new universities are being opened almost daily, but primary schools are still producing students that are unfit for higher education......the educational system of our country is like an inverted pyramid....where the base is weak,i.e. the primary schools, and more debris is being put upon the apex.

these are my suggestions........there is alot to be done later on but we have to address these issues first.

regards,

@Tabasum

The Education System you divided into is not different from the contemporary system.
Instead of increasing numbers of /schools/colleges/universities it would be better to improve the quality of the education. You cannot have 5 govt colleges for one town? Give fringe benefits and incentives with good salary to teachers instead of increasing their numbers. We already have an immense number of teachers.Well my point of view is that instead of increasing numbers ,we better also keep in mind the quality.Overall what matters is the quality.Just add these points to your matter.Rest is good
