At the conquest of Makkah Holy prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) announced general amnesty to all except those who were guilty of blasphemous acts and sacrilegious statements, Ibn e Khatal was one of the convict (Tareekh-e-Tabari Page 104 / History written by Al Tabari) This is evident from the following Hadith.

Narrated Anas bin Malik "On the day of the Conquest, the Prophet entered Mecca, wearing a helmet on his head. When he took it off, a man came and said, “Ibn e Khatal is clinging to the curtain of the Ka’ba.” The Prophet said, “Kill him.” Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 59, Number 582

You sure he was killed for blasphemy? Because if that was the case then Hazoor Pak (SAW) should have given the same verdict for the people of Taif because they not only talked rubish rather bruised him too. And Hazoor Pak was in full postion to punish them due to the Angel that was sent by Allah But instead the Prophet not only pardon them rather also pray for them. The example of old lady who used to throw garbage on him is also hinting at something different.

Astonishing that those who are "not ready" to "accept" that penalty of blasphemy is death, are ignoring all those incidents and Ahadith in which Holy Prophet (PBUH) ordered for the punishment and are emphasizing upon the lady who used to threw garbage or the people of Taif.

Read it again.

Abdullah ibn Khatal had these two slave girls who used to sing against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), they would hold concerts in Makkah singing against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). These two slave girls were on that list along with another slave girl that belonged to Abu Lahab.

Astonishing those who are in favor of blasphemy punishment are totally ignoring the Taif incident and that of the old women.

They were ordered to get killed too? It would be really helpful if you provide the whole hadith with reference. Thank you.
2. "˜Abdullah ibn Khatal, who had previously accepted Islam and been sent by the Prophet to collect alms tax. A slave and one of the Ansar went along with him. Coming to a halt in their journey, "˜Abdullah ibn Khatal told the slave to prepare a chicken for a meal, but the slave went to sleep instead, and was unable to prepare the food in time. "˜Abdullah ibn Khatal became angry and killed the slave. Fearing that if he returned to Madinah, the Prophet would exact retribution for the slave's death, he reneged and joined the infidels. A poet, he used to recite verses abusing the Prophet. On the day Makkah was conquered, he wrapped himself up in the curtain of the Ka"˜bah. When the Prophet was told, he gave orders for "˜Abdullah ibn Khatal to be killed in that very place. Abu Burzah and Sa"˜id ibn Harith executed him in between the Black Stone and the Place of Abraham.

3. Fartana, who was "˜Abdullah ibn Khatal's slave-girl. She also used to recite poems abusing the Prophet. Her dances were a regular feature of the Quraysh's wine-drinking orgies. She was also killed along with her master.

4. Quraybah who was also "˜Abdullah ibn Khatal's slave, and pursued the same profession as Fartana. Orders were given for her execution, but when she came to the Prophet and sought asylum, her request was granted. She then became Muslim
Do you agree with the above description of the event?

Last Island Monday, January 10, 2011 02:37 AM

Yes, this is true.

maryammalik Monday, January 10, 2011 02:46 AM

Then kindly go through all the other accounts as well and see how many of such were forgiven by the messenger of Allah. All the people who regretted their stance were given amnesty. The initial person that u quoted was also a murderer thus his death penalty could totally be on other accord. Thus, there was no such penalty given except that of one of his servant. Do we have such flexibility in this law? Kindly go through 295-C and see how ambiguous it is.

It was upon His (PBUH) own will to punish or forgive the enemies but to us He (PBUH) said :

A’li ibn Abi Talib reported that Nabi (saw) said: “Whoever curses a prophet kill him. Whoever curses my companions beat him.” (TABARAANI, DARAQUTNI)

Rest is up to you, accept it or decline.
