Arrow Water Dispute Between India & pakistan

New dam and irrigation works in India-held Kashmir could give New Delhi the ability to deny Pakistan its share of Indus waters “at crucial moments in the growing season”.

Unlike India, Pakistan`s agriculture is entirely dependent on irrigation, and this makes Pakistan vulnerable to changes resulting as much from climatic disorders and melting glaciers as from what India calls “non-consumptive irrigation works”.

This water dispute could be lead to regional instability or
fourth war between the two countries.

Will both countries resolve this issue through friendly dialogue?

I do not think that this can be solved through dialogue
Because India can never win war from us now they decided to defeat Pakistan like this

Pakistan must not only solve this problem via dialogues and international court of justice but also it has to build its own dams and look for alternative sources of water and power generation coz if it stops India to build dams on its rivers, still it cannot defeat nature and stop natural calamities such as floods, before hand.

yup,if India is not stopped...there can be a war..which will result in our defeat...coz no water,no agriculture,no food,no exports, large imports or may be sanctions or bans from international community, then economic melt down and finally...blastttt.we cannot only depend upon strength of our army or our courage or our past victories...we have to take sound measures for future...in this respect first and foremost,we have to develop strong diplomats...who can win our war on international fronts and who can pave the way of friendship and mutual co-operation b/w different countries even with enemies..
in this era, diplomats are as important as army generals.

And, it is also worth-mentioning here that Kerry's report shows concern over Pak-India water dispute. But, it is also interesting that they have showing this concern after Raymand Davis disputed detention. Perhaps, an indication to Pakistani Government that they can play role on water dispute. Miss Clinton also said what Shootingstar wrote above that we should enhance our capacity to store water, build new dams, and look for alternatives especially for power generation. All the governments in pakistan have failed to build consensus on big dams. India will keep us engage in dialogues and continue to minimize her own risks. We must not be proud on our Army or Nukes. We cannot afford war with India.
Opposition and other political minors are ready for just point-scoring; they cant force the government to finally do something to forestall serious water shortage.

Lightbulb reluctance

Pakistan is a sleeping quiet well .......just red some of the news in which Pakistan environmental department was caught napping ........departments which r already structured to have a watch over the issues of dam building and reporting in form of condemnation is least bothered and have been always found malfeasance in there approach. This makes Pakistan always wondering on ths water issue. My earnest request is tht at least we shd have departments which r competent enough to tackle ths so called bone of connection between the two old rivals.
