COAS suspends command, chain system to counter aggression

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani suspended command and chain system on Thursday to counter any aggression on borders, a private TV channel reported.

Sources said Kayani suspended the command and chain system in order to enable the senior officers on the posts to take appropriate action if Pakistani forces come under attack. Sources said the decision would however be applicable to eventualities involving NATO troops. Sources added Kayani also ordered the troops to counter any aggression with full force and defend the motherland against any assailant.

He also said that the Pak Air Force should have taken action when NATO helicopters violated the Pakistani airspace and attacked the Pakistani posts, sources said.

This is a good move enabling the border forces of this side to reciprocate the attackers. The decision should have been taken earlier. The obverse side is that another similar attack from other side may cause disasterous results. However, PAF was unlikely to respond well in time to the NATO Helicopters within the territory keeping in view for how long they had been firing on pakistani troops. Well, Pak Force is expected to give tough time to allies this time.

This order is somewhat similar to shoot at sight order.These orders are usually operative in the event of a war,war-like scenario or pre-war scenario.

well a bold and commendable initiative taken by general kiyani and corps commanders of our national army. this step would restrain nato.america, afghan national army, and taliban to a certain extent. but something is wrong towards pakistan as suspending the chain means that there would have been some intelligences reports as some further incursion or adventurism could be done by the mast hathi america.
