The FPSC offers a wide range of optional subjects, low-scoring as well as high-scoring, to be selected by candidates. The individual performance of the candidate in his choicest subjects must not cast any aspersions on the assessment of the examiners, as choice of optional subjects rests with candidates who have to weigh their options to score well in competitive examinations.

till date i believed that there is no low scoring and high scoring subject. One's efforts can make any subject scoring. keeping in view the recent scores in css2011,i can still believe in it.e.g in urdu even specialists could not score but there is 152 score in urdu this year.
but now this thing being admitted by FPSC official leave me no choice but to believe that subjects are in fact low scoring and high scoring.
but again i am now confused 'why low scoring also gave high scores as well'. if urdu ,indo pak is low scoring, then how 152 in urdu is possible.
then again standards are uniform as official said it. but it varies, and had varied in css2011 final result to maximum.
only rational thing we have to say is 'LUCK'. you are lucky if standard is good and you are marked according to your performance in written or viva or may be you get more than your performance. if the same so called 'uniform standard' is on a bad day or may be variation, you are unlucky. you can be unlucky to score 15-20 marks low in each of paper or any one of the paper.
in such a tough competition ,every single mark counts and uniform standard is not maintained.
In fact there is no luck,it all depends on examiners going to evaluate you in papers or viva. many hard workers are hit. if you wanna see uniform standard, you must see international exams where tough standards are followed and marks are exactly according to your preparation, hard work and capability.
unpredictability in this exams is solely due to examiners' mood variation as most papers are opinion oriented (essay,Pakistan affairs,Current affairs, islamiat etc). yet fpsc claims to be unbiased.

There is a lot of confusion about scoring and non scoring trends as well. One of the main example is journalism in previous two years. In 2010 this subject had considered as one of the lowest marks fetching subjest while in 2011 it fetched very good marks. again confusion on the part of history subjects. indo pak was considered as good and scoring subject previously but now a days it is considered to be the lowest marks fetching subjest. a lot of confusion on the part of CSS aspirants which increases the quota of LUCK factor in exam. To my mind relevency of luck with allocation in CSS is not justified because credit should be given on hard work and other controllable and improvable factors which must be in control of aspirants... well to assess an aspirant on the basis of his or her luck must be out of question...

the statement by the FPSC official is completely objectionable. i would request some of you to plz write an apropos in response to this. it is really objectionable to see some subjects scoring high with less efforts and some scoring low with utmost efforts. Indo-Pak , Pol Science, and some others had been the subjects with ruthless assessment in the year 2011 while psychology and geography with the graceful one. i am also shocked to read that letter.the statement is completely misleading. such a trend is destructive to our careers. The FPSC must maintain merit without any discrimination.

Its all about scoring more in css examination and there are realy some subjects which score more than the others.
It is this thing due to which students are forced to opt for subjects in which they do not have any interest , they have never studied them before or which are not much helpful in practical life.

I agree with each and every word of Junaid Khan's letter and not satisfied with the official take on the matter. All they came up with is that they are transparent and policies are fair, which is not so. Their arguments are so lame.
