CNG v/s LPG

Poorly controlled use of CNG in transport sector is causing fast depletion of natural gas reservoirs. so Government is thinking to promote LPG instead of CNG although it will be more costly for us. kindly put some light on this issue aspirants.

A short cited insistence only to take attention away from one shortage to create another. LPG is mixture of gases primarily containing butane and propane, both of which are again by products of natural gas and petroleum, i.e. prone to shortage in future. Besides extra cost, LPG is dangerous for both environment and health. Butane is a gas in liquified form that does not evaporate quickly like CNG, so there are more risks of explosions.

LPG is better then CNG

:bow You are right , but LPG is better because it have only 13% risk to create damages . and less precautions . But CNG need more care and testing , even it is expensive to install a high pressure cylinder.

Government have power to make things easier for public. If they support LPG production industries and make 100% LPG in Pakistan rather than importing , it will reduce the cost. even they can make better the loss some custom on pre-installed LPG kit vehicles which assemble in Pakistan.

yes you are right its more harmful and even it would again create energy crises then why government is trying to do this mess? our Govt must try to solve these crises by other means..

yea CNG is more explosive but its a green gas it's not polluting our environment but LPG would definitely do, as Mr mhmmdkashif already explained.

The government, for over 60 years, had lived in a delusional paranoia i.e. fear of Indian takeover or Indian conspiracy; and suddenly it has woke up to the reality that economy, social justice, rule of law and welfare is vital for state's security and long term existence. Now its just boggling ways to do it but it seems poor government just does not know how to manage it :(. The problem is not with current PPP government, future governments would also face similar challenges and solutions require drastic socioeconomic and sociopolitical measures which I am afraid no government would be able or willing to take.

Both CNG (natural gas in compressed form) and LPG are equally explosive. As CNG is natural gas (methane) which is liquified under high pressure, it is not as portable as LPG which is butane or propane (weather also plays a part which gas you use as LPG :D), gases that liquify under low pressures and therefore are portable. Now in case of leakages LPG is more dangerous as its molecular weight is heavier than air therefore it does not evaporate as quickly as CNG. If you have a leakage in CNG the time threshold during which danger lingers around is significantly shorter compared to LPG. Nevertheless both are equally dangerous in terms of explosiveness :dd.

Besides, health and environmental issues with LPG are significantly greater than with CNG.
