World Press Freedom Day!!!

Today on 3 May 2013 the World's Press Freedom Day is being celebrated.

Does the Press really enjoys this freedom not only in Pakistan but worldwide??
What are the impediments in the society for sincere journalism???

Media is entangled in the heinous clutches of power thirsty people in all over the world.They don't let others to come up the same level.In our country media is only making money by blackmailing politician and bureaucrats as there is no rule of law.One time you start trusting one journalist but the coming days expose his scandle. In other countries media is maligning the sanctity of Islam and it never let any chance go in which it is unable to aggravate the image of Muslims.They do all that out of their contempt for Muslim community.Muslims are also involved equally as they are not united against these opportunists.

The theory envisages that the media is enjoying all luxuries of freedom with leaps and bounds. They have got autonomy to express themselves freely and whatever the truth is they got the prerogative to convey it as it is. However, things are not as smooth as it is purported in the theory. There are numerous stumbling blocks to a truth to reach it right place. Today the truth only gets the heat among media groups when it has the element of commercialization in it. Moreover, the politically enticed journalist, also called the Black Sheep, are deteriorating the very fabrics of true journalism. So in its practical context, i do not think that the journalism today is free of all political clouts and back door approaches. The industry is filled with the heinous mindset and is immensely controlled by power blocks in a country.

Adolf Hitler once said,"If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed." Freedom of press for which we can used freedom of media interchangeably is a myth in a place where morality, justice and reality is purchased with bucks. One must remember that media is operated by humans who want "roti, kapra and makan" :-). If you are disagreeing then watch out people like Mahar Bukhair, Mubashir Lucman etc etc.

Corporate media and its tactics to manipulate the world politics, business, domestic politics, terrorism etc is their need. They have to provide news from north east west and south. They have to offer something new to their subscribers and play an important but ridiculous role. Hard to agree!

However, there are many like Iqrarul hassan, who have played their role and hold high regards in society for disclosing the truth as it is. One can not deny from the importance and potentials of media therefore theories like Hypodermic needle theory were presented about media and press.

To sum up, media has a very important prospective role in bringing the change nationally as well as internationally because it is the only thing which is not under control of any one(refer the Arab Spring) but it controls millions of mind across the world.

Furthermore, it was the print media which led the US forces to withdraw from Vietnam. They gave a free hand to the journalists to write volumes about the massacre being carried out at that time by the American forces. And this instigated a rhetoric in the USA and ultimately led the withdrawal of US forces unconditionally. From this time onward the US have a very close hold of international media and has tied the whole media to her's apron strings.

i am really surprised when there is big issue in america that is SANDY a lot of distruction and deaths were there but media doesnt show any thing .............so this is another side of pic

Firstly, that is Solangi.

Secondly, when Sandy was there, its news was ubiquitous at every channel. That was a natural disaster. But killings in Myanmar are not shown on BBC or any other local TV news channel. The marginalization of Kashmir Muslim is not given ear to but when it comes to killing of a person by any terrorist they name it Muslim terrorism. They deliberately paint the fundamentals of Islam as it envisages aggression and call a fundamentalist a terrorist. If anyone following the fundamentals of a set of creed is terrorist than why is not a mathematician a terrorist when applying the fundamentals, why is not a surgeon a terrorist when doing surgeries?

Such are the tactics of media to undermine and maneuver the opposite party.

Media from all over the world is really enjoying this day but in Pakistan, I don't think so that they really are.
As for sincere journalism, they are a good source of providing different kind of knowledge to the people if they play their vital role fair and square. Mostly, the journalists in Pakistan are extremely corrupt even they give negative thoughts about Pakistan when they are in another country (I don't want to take the names but most of the people among you know these personalities very well).
They only run behind fame and money and for the purpose they were selected for, they forget that as well as about their motives and destinations

Yes, I'm from China, I totally enjoys this freedom! Because the press is dominated by government here somehow.
