No. Raising suspicions against the intelligence agencies is not 'evil'. It's only natural that a person will accuse the people who have threatened him multiple times in past, and who have a track record of extra-judicial violence.

Geo, after attack on Hamid Mir has taken hard stance against ISI. As far situation and condition is concerned ISI was directly nominated for attacks on the senior journalist of GEO. Here arised a situation where freedom of media and integrity of a defense forces were in front of each other. It also opened a pandora box against ISI on international level specially in India. No one can imagine to go against the institution which are solely defending the country. Similarly free media in country is also considered a gaurntee for many basic rights. So, after the summary of Ministry of defense for ban on geo, we need not take a severe action. Instead situation should be cleared in the light of facts and confusion and collusion must be avoided for the sake of national interests.

We need thorough investigation into the matter and if the blames of geo and Mir were proved baseless and a conspiracy, then geo must be banned and the conspirators should face the force of law then.

guys as far as i know there exist court of law that proves who is guilty...if hamid mir / his family was threatned by ISI or they have any evidence that ISI is involved in this act . GEO or hamid mirs family should have knocked the door of law....coming on media accusing institution like ISI ( who is front line of defence ) and directly pointing the head of this institution is not at all acceptable.....i believe there should be judicial inquiry on hamid mir attack but on the same note i buycott GEO for creating propaganda ....GEo is time nd again producing such environment where rift comes in between govt nd armed forces...PEMRA should put a check on geo tv activities

"Wars are fought in the minds of people not on the battlegrounds" (Sun Tzu) and it's what the media is doing (especially our media). The case of Mir against our state's sacred institution looks like an engineered conspiracy project nothing else. But still we'd support the legal remedy rather than being run by emotions and be sentimental. Be patient fellows you'll come to know about the facts and fictions of this affair. Pakistan Zindabad!

I don't see any "defending the country" services really. Other than loosing all major wars, derailing democracy, and suppressing its own people, military establishment has just been doing real estate, fertilizer, banking, and corn flakes businesses. It's more like a corporation rather than a defense institution.

Yeah, right. Like we have been coming to know about the fact and fiction for the last 66 years. If any report at all is prepared by the judicial commission which is slightly against ISI, it will be made confidential in the name "national security" (whatever the hell that means). Eventually, some other country's media will release the report, as usual. (Hamood-ur-Rehman report, Abbotabad report etc.)

Geo and other TV channels should be fined heavily for holding media trials and blame games. People loved it when Geo transmitted media trials of politicos. Now when it turned its face towards ISI everyone started calling it EVIL. That's funny. If it is wrong now, it was wrong then.

But if the present scenario puts an end to blatant disregard for journalistic ethics, it will be good for us.

The story does not end here. If ISI is persecuting journalists, it needs to be stopped too. As long as we keep worshiping this sacred cow we created, we're in for big trouble. Anyone not toeing the line will be removed. Pakistan has been the worst country for journalists. Anyone remembers Saleem Shazad? They keep getting murdered like him or beaten like Umer Cheema or shot like Raza Rumi and Hamid Mir.

This is precisely the point. People consider it their birth right to criticize politicians and politics (which it is) and even indulge in free-style mudslinging. Same goes for the other institution, judiciary. Iftikhar Chudhary has been a butt of ridicule by the patriot people of Pakistan without any regard for the institution of judiciary. But the mother of all evils, the military establishment, seems immune to all this. The moment you raise finger, all hell breaks loose and weasels like General Aslam Baig start talking talking about possible military coupe (of course, no one considers this a treason. A general can suck our blood and move on, that's perfectly all right).
