Well computer Engineering is a good field and it has scope as well. Although I don't exactly know the course contents but Comuter Engineers are mainly concerned with system programming. The expertise level required and studies might be really demanding. Personally I have seen them in industry programming and designing chips and other hardware before these go for manufacturing.

Regarding the scope and in view of our local Industry I will say that it depends upon your luck. When I was at this stage confused about what to do, I was advised by someone that don’t consider the salary because people are having 6K to 60K for the same degrees. So consider your long term goals where you want to be and what you can do for your life time. Like selecting a degree at this level isn’t just about coming 4 years but you are supposed to pursue it as a career for life time. Even if you go for competitive exams what if you want to earn more or study further you will be definitely looking towards your academic line of work.

I will advice you to consider your aptitude more than the scope or expected salary. One can do well in any field in which (s)he puts efforts. It is very well said, "There is always room at the top".
