how to instal sound driver ?

i installed windows and now i dont know how to instal sound driver...after inserting universal drivers CD in the drive what to do next??

Right click on My computer Icon (desktop) => select properties => hardware => device manager =>select the sound driver => press update (from menu bar) ... but it will be difficult

easy way is to insert cd, open the cd drive => open your sound driver folder (like realtek) follow the instructions....

insert cd
right click My Computer
click properties
click hardware
click device manager
you would see a list of hardwares and those hardware which are missing driver will have a question mark in yellow color "?"
click on desired hardware like mediatech sound card ets
it will open hardware's details
click on install or reinstall driver
you will be asked for search autometic, or menual. select autometic, it will find it in computer and install it if it is there on cd or anywhere in HD.

Whats the version of windows you installed, normally they pick up the driver themselves, just in case they don't then you can do it using the driver cd you have,

1. Got to control pannel
2. Go to System
3. Hardware and Device manager, their you will find list of devices
4. There would be a question mark on the sound device
5. Right click there and update driver (re-install driver)
6. Now navigate you system to the CD (driver cd)
7. It will then find itself

If you have installed Windows 7 on HP, you are in trouble regarding driver installation. In that case tell me, I found the solution last night by wasting 30 precious minutes.

thanx to all of you marslanqaisar,fahad aslam,muhammadian....i followed instructions given by you but there was some problem in installation and now in place of yellow ? there is yellow ! mark now

That implies you installed wrong drivers for the device, first of all make sure whats the make/model of your sound driver, then install the drivers for that particular device.

actually i dont know about it... how u know that which particular driver matches the device...?

Please post the make of your PC, version of windows you are installing, motherboard make (if possible, you can find it on the quotation you have when you bought this system, or you can open the PC and read it, it should be written somewhere on the corner of motherboard), normally the sound drivers now a days are built into the motherboards, so if you know the make of mother board you can easily install the drivers for it....
