First of all you need to read C++ D.S. Malik throughly programming is very simple if you think in term of how you 'll solve the problem if you are machine than translate the steps into instruction in proper syntex its all what programming is but if you won't think in proper way you 'll waste time try to solve problem to build your thinking.

If your into Web development (web programming)

www.w3schools.com is the one stop shop from the very basic HTML to JQuery , PHP

for application programming

Many people recommend Python as the best beginner language because of its simplicity yet great capabilities. The code is easy to read and enforces good programming style (like indenting), without being overly strict about syntax (things like remembering to add a semicolon at the end of each line).

If you have computer science background then go for programming languages like C,C++,C#,Java and many more. If not then I recommend go for web design.
There is reason for this recommendation, programming languages are broad and you can't get them and i believe you let down soon. But this is just suggestion choice is yours.

Because you want to start from scratch C++ is the better choice among others, there are lots of books for this language available, i feel C++ by D.S Malik is most suitable for new learners.. You may also get assistance from video lectures. Following link is the complete reference:
