Islam Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided." Holy Qur'an 16:125

Default Favours of the West?

I was listening to an interview of Irshad Manji by Mehdi Hasan. The women, a gay, claims to be self-proclaimed reformative Muslim. She emphasizes Ijtihad and to such an extent that everyone can mold Quaranic Ayats to SUIT THEMSELVES. Furthermore, she is so enamored by the west that she said that even the so called moderate Muslims should come out of their defensive mode to legitimize the correctness of their religion to west. In simple words, she was emphasizing that Muslims should reinterpret their religion to suit the demands of westerners. The link to the interview is given, please listen to it and leave your impression of it. I interpreted a few points from it which I have explained below:

1: This self-proclaimed Muslim suffers from identity crisis. She was brought up as a Muslim in a western country, which exposed her to sometimes contradictory messages in her society. So, in order to resolve that identity crisis she started emphasizing her own version of a religion that suits her.
2: To gain traction for her views she did not become an atheist, but started a campaign against mainstream Islam under the banner of Islam to gain some cheap popularity by infuriating devout Muslims.
3: Lastly, and most importantly, contrary to her assertion that Muslims should become overly apologetic of terrorism in the world and reinterpret their religion so it is suitable for the west, is a BLATANT attempt to garner favours from the westerns. I am against Muslims apologizing for terrorist attacks by ISIS or Al-Qeada. They are without a doubt absolutely heinous and atrocious. However, why do Muslims have to render an apology every-time something like this happens? Whether Islam is a religion of peace or not, why do we have to gain a stamp of approval from the west to ensure that its taken as a religion of peace and not war?

What do you think? Please watch this interview and leave some comments.
