Islam Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided." Holy Qur'an 16:125 |

Difference between convert & revert
I was wondering that what is really the difference between a convert and a revert or there is no difference?
Can anyone please bother to answer? Yours sincerely |

"Vert" is "to turn". Con is a prefix that has many meanings. Here, "con" intensifies the meaning of "vert". "Re", again, is a prefix and it means "back", "again". So "convert" is to turn to another belief and "revert" is to go back to old belief.

A non Muslim can revert back to religion islam, while a Muslim can convert to another dogmatism. This is because islam is a deen of natural inclination, and of cause there is hadeedth that every child is born on the natural instincts of righteousness.
Now, understand it within the context of miss last island's post. I hope you got it.Please correct me if I'm supposed to be wrong. |

The reason why Muslims prefer to call some one revert than a convert is because of a Hadith (Saying) of the Prophet.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every child is born in state of fitrah (the natural disposition of man), then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1296; Muslim, 4803). In other words, we are all born as Muslims then our parents convert us to Christianity, Judaism etc. That's the reason why they call some one who accepts islam as a revert because he/she used to be a Muslim before your parents convert him/her into Christianity or whatever religion it be. |

convert to Islam
Don’t like the word “revert,” as we don’t revert to Islam; we convert – unless one was a Muslim, left it, and then returned
