Revolution in Saudi ?
Hello,
After what's going on in arab countries, I wonder will there be something like that in Saudi Arabia as well? The royal family is ruling from 1740's there so what do you guys think? Also, sometimes I think that all what happened in other arab countries was a game that was setup for Saudi Arabia which was their main target .. they wanted something like that in Saudi and wanted to setup a foundation for it .. dunno but sometimes I get this weird thought .. COMMENT PLZ :P |

Please have a look at these links for broader information of the issues resulting in Arab Uprising; i). 2010 ii). 2011 Saudi Arabian protests - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Respected fellow, I tend to disagree with you regarding your idea that this all was a drama to topple Saudi government. These uprisings/revolts do not at all revolve around Saudia. Apparently, the power structure of Saudia is a bit different from other countries because all higher echelons of state machinery are held by the members of Saud family... and we do not see any important upheavel by any family member, except where Shah Faisal was assasinated by a family member... Anyways, please have a look at above links to develop your idea (hope it would be better/improved thn your current idea ) Regret, I wont be able to comment upon/reply your threads frequently due to my certain commitments, but i hope you would be able to get a broader overview. Good luck.

It seems that the Saudia rulers are also conscious about the possibility of such revolution-like Hullabaloo in their country, and thats why they are taking measures to ward off it before it commences. They have regularized thousands of employees, and I think they have also banned any sort of political gathering/activity etc.
However, it is not convincing so far that the powers (if any) behind the ther Arab countries revolutions are planning to target Saudi Arabia. They dont seem to be unhappy with Saudi Arabia.

talking of saudi arabia, a friend in a discussion came up with saying that they have a very strong intelligence network and which is why people barely can dare to speak against the royal family. How true is that?

No doubt, their intelligence network is very strong.

Saudia is the main ally of USA in the region and unless USA has some reason to topple the saudi government, there is little chance of any revolution there. Most of the uprising in Arab world has indirect support of the USA on the the name of democracy/human rights/civil liberties.

intelligence network of saudia is good, but intelligence of Egypt was also very good and suppressive. i agree to T S Awan that they are keeping major posts of all the offices with their own large family members so they can easily tackle with any agitation ... similarly sociologist is right to some extent that u.s.a. may not like toppling of government in saudia thats why its running.. but we can see in case of egypt, americans were particularly annoyed with Husni mubarak but he had to go..... yes americans play their cards, but its not must that their cards are used everytime..
