Facebook to be blocked in Pakistan (News Report)
 

The Lahore High Court has directed Pakistani authorities to block access to all websites, including Facebook, that are involved in "spreading religious hatred" and to submit a compliance report by October 6.

In an order issued yesterday, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed directed the Information Technology Ministry to "deny access to all websites in Pakistan involved in spreading religious hatred".

However, the judge directed the ministry that access to Google or other search engines should not be denied. He directed the authorities to submit a report on the implementation of the court’s order by October 6.

The judge issued the order in response to a petition seeking a permanent ban on US-based Facebook for hosting a competition on blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Mohammed.

Lawyer Muhammad Azhar Siddique, who had filed the petition, said Islamic values were being insulted in the name of access to information and this was hurting the feeling of billions of Muslims across the world.

Despite an earlier order of the High Court, the Information Technology Ministry had not blocked websites spreading religious hatred, Siddique claimed.

Siddique also asked the court to direct the federal government to stop the display of material considered blasphemous by any religion or insulting to the Prophet Mohammed on all websites in Pakistan.

He said the government should be directed to establish a permanent authority with legal status, which could monitor such "objectionable activities" across the world.

Pakistani authorities had briefly barred access to Facebook last year on the orders of the Lahore High Court.

Not a good decision.Banning a website(s) like this is not a solution of any problem.
People not only stay connected to their friends and families via this medium but also using it as professional tool and getting monetary benefits.It is not a wise decision.If they are banning it in the name of religion than why they are not taking action against other sites.Justice Must be served on equal basis.

Know what, people will still use Facebook, if not through proper means, through other means like tunneling etc. It should be a personal decision to access a website/page or not. Not everyone who logs in to Facebook from Pakistan goes on to access the objectionable pages. Many don't even know about those, for they care less. Most log in to have some fun, share photographs and chat around with friends. Again, the state is meddling in private domains. So, in my opinion, it is a pointless exercise.

I think it is good decision to ban facebook as the so called social network. There are many ways to stay connect through internet as internet has made it global viallage and you can be stay in touch with friends and families through other mediums. For professional things dears you people can use the much better and specialized network Linkedin([url=http://www.linkedin.com]World's Largest Professional Network | LinkedIn[/url])
yar who is not in favour of banning it are i think not aware of its unsocial use. it is more unsoical then social network. If facebook can't stop the blasphemous acts and if it going to lead to clash of civilization then it is much better to ban it. I am a moderate muslim but interms of the better interest of our people i think banning is the good solution. and guys ziada liberal show karney ki zarorat nahi hai. Facebook has not good effects on our social environment.

we know the blasphemous acts on facebook and it is shameless say we could not make the FB admins to make it that it never happen again. and Facebook mostly depends on muslims user. And Dear Brother Malia Asghar Mugey to bohat afsoos hota hai kai Jab Ialam ki Baat hoti hai to log liberal showment kay liye kehtey hai ye tangnazri hai aur kehtey hai ye personel hai halanke jab Islam ki baat hoti hai personel things khatam ho jati hai.

Allah hamare haq me sub behtar kare. Ameen.

I am not here to defend facebook but i don't agree with the decision.

Okay,Lets suppose it is leading towards this CFC then it means we are really vulnerable and of no use.We cannot hold our grounds and fight an enemy instead we prefer to run away from the battle ground.In this way,we are giving them free hand to play with our religion,our faith.

Humain bilkul aysy logon ko rokna chahiye jo Rasool Pak(SAW)ki shaan main gustakhi karin.Lekin kiya aik country se FB ban ker ke un ko roka ja sakta hai.You people can forget but i can't when the blasphemous pages were created on FB lots of pages associated with the love of ALLAH,Hazoor Pak and hadiths were also created.I think by now they have outnumbered those cheap ones.By banning you are just giving them free hand.

Mujhy is incident main aur sir syed Ahmad Khan waly incident main boht similarities nazar aa rahi hain.
He wanted muslims to get modern education but muslims denied.They insisted on breaking relations whereas sir syed wanted them to go near them,learn there ways in order to understand their treacherous nature.Same Here,if we want to mend the world,we need to take solid stRonge actions rather than banning everything.Kabootar ki tarha aankhain band kerny se kuch nahi hota.Aap ghar main reh kar apny ghar ko easily defend ker sakty hain ya 10 kos door ja ker.

ALLAH tala khud nahi ayain gy.Unhon ne humain sab kuch diya aur saath main aqal aur dimaag bhi diya hai sirf emotions nahi diye ta ke hum quran aur sunnat aur naik logon ki perwi kerty huwy zamany,halaaat aur waqiyat ke mutabiq sahi faisla ker sakain.Internet per bhi falahi kaam ho sakty hain.Zaroori nahi ke her koi time waste kary but i agree mostly people waste thier time.
Social act,ki demand ker rahy hain aap aur doosri taraf logon to un ka socail aur ehtical right nahi de rahy...What a contradiction.

if facebook is allowing the creation of blasphemous pages or not removing or not trying to remove such pages whenever informed then we should stop providing them with financial gains.

using or not using facebook should be a private matter.bans should not be inflicted upon it
