Try LCC, Mobiserve or EPTSC. These are cellular network vendors that have contracts for maintenance of cell sites.

I am in the IT department because I failed to secure a job in the telecom engineering field.

plz, do not loose heart. InshaAllah, Allah will help. keep on applying to various places. Ask your teachers, if they can give nice advice. Till then request a firm that you will be working for one or two hours with them, unpaid, and they will be providing you a certificate of job when you leave. This will be helpfull for you in vacancies requiring experience. Till then you can have some other source of income and M.phil classes.when I graduated no vacancies were announced for 3.5 years and once they were announced, they demanded experience. From where would i bring that. i would like to here from other members, how did they cope with situation when they graduated and were jobless

The experience thing astounds me as well. Even an entry level job for telecom engineer requires knowledge of skills that cannot come without experience and I found it hard to find an internship that would expose me to this field. I worked as an intern at Mobilink in the NOC department but that experience did not help me out much in my job search.

After about a year without a paid job, I decided to switch to the IT side as I met prerequisite skills and there were and still are numerous opportunities. My advice for you guys is that you may consider switching you career path and take up some IT related courses and for that I recommend C++, web development and database management related courses.

This is the only advice I can give as I myself failed to find I career in my field of expertise. I have mentioned some telecom engineering related companies in one of my previous posts. You may try your luck there as well but it didn't really work out for me.

Yes it is absolutely possible to get admission but you will have to prepare yourself to clear the admission tests that will include programming (and mostly relational algebra and other programming/algorithms related algebra) questions. There is no restriction on previous degree in order to apply for MCS at FAST but you will have to take extra courses that are prerequisites for the master level courses once you get admission (I think they are free of cost, but not entirely sure). One of my friend has enrolled himself in the FAST MCS program for the fall session of 2012. He too has a BSc(Telecom) degree.

For FAST, you can either give their MCS admission test or give the GRE test and submit the test score.

Algebra involved in programming would probably not be something that you've studied in previous math courses. It is an entirely different thing. Relational algebra concerns databases queries.

There were other questions similar to relational algebra in the admission test for FAST. But I am not aware of the topic name.

Sample admission tests are available on FAST website, nu.edu.pk
