Daddy's Girl
Daddy's Girl
Something has changed You have locked the door to your safe And forgotten the key There is pain where laughter used to Be I watch your aging eyes Search the room for something That isn't there Instead you find us Sorry to let you down We ride in scathingly cold silence The houses fly past Full of people whose fathers Love Where they are proud I hate that I care so much I wish I could ignore the tension Thick, like the caramel that Grandpa makes Filling every silence I can't airbrush it out anymore You are unhappy But you will not speak, will not Cry You push us away with your all-knowing hands The strength in your shoulders has gone You are not my hero anymore. |
